quote:Does anyone dare vote "Not Guilty?" It would have to be multiple jurors, not just one or two poor schlubs. Addresses get found, threats get made, arsons happen.
Juror selection will start tomorrow per Judge. He doesn't want any delays. Defense and prosecution reviewed 50 so far, and struck 16 of them

You ever seen someone shoot or sniff heroin? Imagine that with a drug 1000x stronger. If he's OD'ing, as so many of you claim, he cannot resist and would immediately be down for the count upon consumption.
Unless he was also using meth which supposedly he was, AKA a super speedball

Heroin is directly injected into the bloodstream. Oral fentanyl will take 5 to 10 minutes, if not more, to start to work in someone who is a chronic user. If he swallowed his stash as the police showed up, there is time for him to grow violent.

Floyd had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on April 3. A post-mortem nasal swab confirmed that diagnosis. The report notes that because a positive result for coronavirus can persist for weeks after the disease has resolved, "the result most likely reflects asymptomatic but persistent ... positivity from previous infection."
In addition to fentanyl and methamphetamine, the toxicology report from the autopsy showed that Floyd also had cannabinoids in his system when he died.
Floyd also had heart disease, hypertension and sickle cell trait — a mostly asymptomatic form of the more serious sickle cell disease, an inherited blood disorder that primarily affects African Americans.
So he had Covid, heart disease, hypertension, and sickle cell disease in addition to being fricked up on fentanyl (I have read fatal levels will be shown by defense), methamphetamine, and Im sure a host of others.
Cop is 100% walking.

Shouldn’t you wait for the trial to start and finish before you decide he’s guilty?

Floyd is not saint but that cop should clearly be convicted with manslaughter or something similar.
Agreed, at the very least the cop was negligent. He should not just walk completely free of any charges imo

ETA: Fentanyl is the shite that they say even touching will kill you if you touch too much. Feel free to google that if you don't believe me. Ingestion of an amount leading to overdose would lead to immediate sedation and death when the lungs stop moving.
As someone that has taken Fentanyl, I can tell you it takes time (15 minutes) for the effects to kick in and if he is a habitual user that was chewing on a transdermal patch(which a lot of junkies do) the effects take even longer.

but IF it’s brought up that the drugs in his system killed him it’s gonna be ON.

The drugs are going to be the entire argument for one side

Why are you a purveyor of lies?
A) Police didn’t kill Floyd in all likelihood. He died from drug overdose.
B) He repeatedly and consistently resisted arrest for a long time.
C) He was a giant of a man
D) He was having an easily identifiable episode of delirium.
E) Chauvin appears to have shown callous disregard for Floyd’s health crisis.
F) We don’t know why Chauvin did what he did, and it’s possible he was following his training protocol.
G) Floyd’s death was tragic, and the officer’s action was possibly a crime, but you are repeating lies that he was killed by the police because of $20 fake bills.

Court is back in session, picking up where they left off with Juror #8.
So far:
So far:
quote:
It's clear why jury selection might take three weeks and will be arduous. The first juror states that she has seen the video of George Floyd's death, but cannot answer - because of her limited English - whether she could put her current perceptions aside in her deliberations.
quote:
The 2nd potential juror just claimed he never saw the George Floyd video
Juror #2 when asked if he supports BLM, “I support the message that every life should matter equally. I don't think the organization necessarily stands for that."
He has been accepted as a juror.
Juror 2 is also a chemist and will likely be very interested in the toxicology reports
quote:
Juror #3 just testified that she has strong feelings on the George Floyd case and can’t be impartial
Juror 3 removed by the judge
quote:
Juror 4 has clearly already judged the case. Says police made an “illegal move” that killed Floyd
Defense used a Peremptory challenge to strike Juror 4.
Now prosecutors are accusing the defense lawyers of racism bc he was Hispanic.
Judge points out that the juror clearly had a pre-formed opinion and did not offer the presumption of innocence to the defendant, had already judged Chauvin guilty and wanted the burden to be on the accused.
Juror 4 has been struck.
quote:
Juror #8 states he thinks Chauvin used excessive force in the George Floyd arrest. Also states that the riots affected the Minneapolis community negatively and that he won't go downtown with his wife.
States he has misgivings about the BLM organization
States he views Blue Lives Matter favorably
Said he would write a blank check to George Floyd's family
Looks like defense wants to keep juror #8 bc he said he likes Blue Lives Matter in general, despite the fact he already said he strongly believes Chauvin used excessive force
Juror #8 says he is concerned about his safety if his name will be released for serving on the jury in the George Floyd trial
Chauvin lawyers may be looking at juror #8's leadership experience in business and hoping that if they can get him on their side he will persuade the rest of the jury to follow
BREAKING: Juror #8 says he is concerned rioters will attack his house if he serves on the jury and his name is released in George Floyd trial

Our team is trying to find out. There has been no explanation on why they jumped to #8. #5 was an agreed dismissal, but #6 & #7 were still set to appear for questioning.

Juror 8 is finished, prosecution moved to strike.
So far, defense has used 2 strikes, prosecution 1.
Juror 9 is up, female.
quote:
BREAKING: Prosecutors use their first preemptory strike on Juror #8, an Air Force veteran and grandfather who said he would judge the George Floyd case based on the facts
Juror #8 says he knows officers have dangerous jobs, says he knows they have to make snap judgements while on duty, disagrees with second-guessing officers but says sometimes mistakes are made
So far, defense has used 2 strikes, prosecution 1.
Juror 9 is up, female.

UPDATE ON JURY SELECTION:
-one juror seated
-one cause dismissal
-two struck by the defense
-one unsuccessful Batson challenge by the state (no discrimination found)
-one struck by the state
Juror 9:
quote:
Next prospective juror says she was ‘super excited’ to receive her jury notice. She’s practically giddy about being there.
quote:
Potential juror #9 has stated at least somewhat of a negative opinion of Chauvin (or might have been police generally don’t quote me on that...) and someone positive on the impact this has all had on her community - in the sense of awareness of discrimination

Juror 9 is sus, I feel the defense will strike her. She sounds like she's trying to hard to say the right things to get on the jury, the defense is slowly peeling away at her bias.,
quote:
Potential Juror 9 asked about why they said on questionnaire their community was positively affected by protests. Responds "just in the idea of recognizing that some people are unfortunately discriminated against".
Also says a relative is member of law enforcement in Brainerd.
quote:
Juror #9 has a relative that is a police officer. Questioning attorney says, "It's good to know police officers, right?" then laughs #GeorgeFloydTrial
quote:
Super fascinating - this is the second potential juror (#9) to have some experience with martial arts training and the defense has zeroed in on that.
Asked about a time she reported being in something similar to a chokehold.
