That is what's really his best chance. If his actions followed police protocol then you can't put the blame on him.
There is going to be some questions about the statements given by the paramedics at the scene who said Chauvin was hindering their ability to treat Floyd due to continuing to pin him down even after Floyd had lost consciousness.
Don't know if the prosecution can make an involuntary manslaughter charge stick based on that. But I suspect we'll hear something about it at some point in the trial.

I didn't know the ex-Saints RB Pierre Thomas is now a legal correspondent on ABC

i haven't watched but this reminds me of the Trayvon Martin trial, where the pundits were all basically fricking idiots until the very end when it was clear that MOM ran circles around the prosecution

I want him to walk because he is innocent. Who cares what happens to the city. This isn't China.

I haven't heard about that. That could definitely make it interesting.

It's being carried by literally every network. They're in recess for at least the next 10 minutes.

There's one statement by an EMT indicating that upon arrival at the scene, they asked Chauvin to move aside but that he continued to pin Floyd down for another 60 seconds, impeding their ability to treat Floyd.

It will be interesting to see how they come up with a real time length on this. Also, likely part of the reason the defense is making sure to keep the surroundings and other people around in play. IE..Chauvin wanted to make sure it was safe.

I want him to walk so we can move on to Act III of this country's history which shall be known as The 2021 Project.

Well, every cop at the scene had a body cam on them. So if there is evidence of Chauvin impeding the EMTs, then it should be on his body cam, so we'll know soon enough. As the defense opening statements mentioned, the jury will have to watch all that body cam footage and make a decision on the appropriateness of everybody's actions that day.
