At least it is only a week out, and not 90 days out like one of their forecast models.

Even at a week out it can still change. Weather is like sports, one change in the dynamics and you go from winning to losing in a short timeframe.

Everyone here remembers the WBRZ Dr. Meteorologist who said it wasn’t going to snow in Baton Rouge one morning and an hour or 2 later snow started falling.

Make it rain and snow in this precipitation simulator! Set the air temperature (green) and dew point (yellow) in the four different altitudes and see what type of precipitation will fall to the ground. Watch closely. They may even change form as they fall.

It was actively snowing and he was claiming it wasn't.

It was the equivalent of a child just shouting NUH UNNNHHH

That was hilarious. People were posting pictures of their yards covered in snow and this guy just kept on trying to do his best Phil Connors impersonation.

Ever since the HIGHLY 3ducated meteorologists in South Louisiana started using computers to forecast instead of experience and common sense, the weather forecast has been completely messed up to the point that it is a joke with my family now. Bring back Shingleton and Nash Roberts.

I am not certain exactly what you're referring to, but are you talking about Dec 2008? Some early morning goof on channel 2 was literally saying the immediate area around I-12 would not see any accumulation on the ground (only on cars and other cold structures), but we had 2 inches on the ground at that moment, the snow was falling hard, and we were literally 14 miles east of their studio. #idiots.

The cold is coming. Now, let's see who ends up with the best forecast. NWS, or one of the two locals I follow.

This is for my area in North Alabama. The last one in blue is the local station that performed the best with temperatures during the heat of Summer.

Not that it takes much but trying to figure out this kind of thing makes my head hurt

Legend are those bottom 2 forecasts not computer generated to some degree? The local station I follow out is Memphis has an app with the same UI and I've always just assumed their 10 day deal for the most part was just what a computer spit out with very little human input. I don't guess it matters much but I just haven't ever put much stock into it, obviously 2 days out would be more trustworthy than 10

Maybe, but they do have some input. There are differences between the two with tweaks made, even outside of regular intervals. I didn't pay much attention to them until back in the Summer when there was a big hooplah about us having so many consecutive days at or over 100°. That lead me to believe that it may be a combination of computer-generated with some input from whichever station met is making the forecast. That's pretty clear when you follow the wording of the actual forecasts, at least in my opinion.

what?? Shingleton isn’t even a meteorologist and he describes hurricane weather as “showers and breezy”. He’s a jackass.

2017.

Dr. Josh continued to say "minimumal impact, light accumulations on grassy surfaces only" while my entire street was covered with snow.

Then the interstates were shut down for a good 2-3 days

That guy is an arrogant clown, and I enjoyed it immensely when everyone found out and was talking about it on here.

My entire life is one let down after another but please, let south LA have a white Christmas if we're dealing with single digit wind chills.
