Dealing with the SO family during the holidays2018 It’s a new day
Posted by baxter12 on 11/22/16 at 2:15 pm383
First let me say I have a great releationship with my In-laws. So let's start the holiday off with this one. Bro in law and sis in law flew in from San Diego stayed in Nola past few nights doing the tourist thing. They were suppose to drive up to Br meet me and the wife at 1245 so we could drive up to Shreveport together. Wife and I both take 1/2 day of PTO. Of course as always with them something comes up. Reason being they just had to have a late brunch at Breenan's. Needless to say they just left Nola at 2 and we now have to drive to BR aiport to meet them where they are dropping off the rental car! Wife is pissed I am pissed.I just can't wait for these next 5 days! Oh the holiday's how do all you OT ballers deal with family during this time, that always seem to screw up plans?

...why do you HAVE to pick them up?
They're grown arse adults and Uber and cabs exist.
Screw 'em.
ETA: missed the part about having to drive to Shreveport. My vote is to let them wait at the airport for an hour or two. Go enjoy a drink somewhere.

Make 'em wait for you guys. If they don't want to wait, make 'em UBER or take a fricking cab. I can't tolerate inconsiderate people.

You knew your trip to Shreveport would be delayed days ago, didn't you?
Well the plan was for them to meet us at the Enterprise off Siegan as they were going to ride with us. Of course after already being late they tell us the car has to go to the airport! It's a Freaking cluster, all I know is my wife is gonna "owe" me one its her family not mine.

I jokingly told my wife that I wasn't going to her parents' house for Thanksgiving. She asked if I wanted her to bring some food back. I still can't believe it.
i would infinitely prefer to spend any holiday with my inlaws over anyone in my family.

I've gotten to the point where I really hate the holidays. Trying to juggle going to my parents and the in-laws. We all live within 15 minutes of each other but it just always seems like a big production. And I don't even have kids, I can't imagine trying to shuttle kids around to the grandparents.

Correct We always tell them an hour ahead so really we wanted to be on the road by 130-2. Not 430. It's frustrating 4 years ago at Christmas they missed there flight to Florida that my In laws paid for not once but twice should up December 23 instead of the 21st. They have a track history
