I'm done paying babysitters too much. Oldest will take 12 an hour and if she stabs the boys, so be it.

DC is small and you are extremely wealthy (not going to effect them) or poor (government is paying for it anyway).

It’s freaking daycare, these teachers do not need a degree. This is so stupid, daycare is for kids to improve social skills and improve their immune system lol. Basically a place for kids to stay while parents work and get a small introduction to structure and hire school works.

This is an absolute travesty.

As I said. How much is it worth to make sure that your kids are alive when you pick them up from daycare?
Does it require a college degree to change diapers, make sure toddlers take a nap, and make sure they don’t stick a fork in an outlet?

I’m fine with a license to make sure the workers have basic knowledge needed and can pass a background check. But a college degree requirement seems a bit much

Regulatory and legal costs add over 1.75 Trillion to consumer prices each year.

Not only are they artificially keeping wages low by importing cheap labor, they're inflating prices through regulatory cost. Government fricking sucks.

Cost of day care already approaches or surpasses private school or college pricing for many people. This will force the feds to fund daycare for more women which is the goal.

And the day care class room teacher needs a college degree to achieve this? They should wave all requirements so that they can pay the people less but hire more of them.

Having 5 high school students watching 3 kids each have a better chance of properly monitoring kids than one college graduate watching 15.

You’re looking at it from the opposite direction.

It’s a way to keep up the supply of women who are willing to pay $50K+ for a college degree.

Some 22 year old with a gender studies degree and zero training will now be considered qualified over someone who has been in childcare for 10 years. Mercy.

Oh look a city completely controlled by liberals simultaneously making things more expensive that will disproportionately affect lower wage earners while also taking away opportunities for lower wage earners and ultimately leaving less workers in the labor pool causing supply shortages

And when this inevitably causes a problem, systemic racism will get the blame and the fact that the system was 100% created by liberal policies will be completely ignored and the only answer to the problem will be…more liberal policies.

What is defined by law as a day care in DC ? That may be a loophole. For profit not for profit? That’s crazy child care cost now are killing small businesses and single parents.
