Woah!
So, redefining words wasn't enough. Ignoring history wasn't enough. Now, they are just going to outright change history?

Student should have asked her the Etymology of the word "Sheriff".

*Edited to change the professor from "him" to "her". She seems like one to take gender pronouns very seriously.

Yes there were no police before then

Just like there was no slavery before then and hasn't been any since then

So find out who she is and where she lives and see what happens when the criminals get that information, along with her assurance that she would not call the police.

Higher education stopped education people as a mission long ago.

The goal is now simply indoctrination.

It’s amazing how ignorant the majority of academia is.

I propose eliminating dictionaries entirely and introducing everyone to etymologies. It takes so long to wade through everyone's opinion of what a word means nowadays that definitions are practically worthless.

I was curious about "gentrification." Apparently it was invented in 1972 and has the root of gentry - well behaved and successful people. Similar to genteel.

Or Gentilly. IDK if Gentilly is gentrifying but it wouldn't shock me.

Congrats to her for inviting crime to her front door.

I’ll be honest, when I learned that 20 years ago the last place I would have thought to ever have “shire reeve” show up in my life again would be here on TD.

Not enough info to tell if he or she is the most horrible person living but definitely enough info to determine that he or she is in the running for the DUMBEST.
