Creepy story : police release 45 year old letter from Dallas cold case

Late night insomnia had me clicking around and just saw this. A 45 year old cold case in Dallas and the police just released a letter they got in the mail a few days later. What does the OT think?

Fox News

quote:

A Texas cold case squad on Friday released an old handwritten letter that could solve a 17-year-old girl’s brutal murder 45 years ago.
quote:

The short letter refers to the Carla Walker homicide in February 1974 in Fort Worth. Police said the girl was beaten, raped, strangled and tortured after being abducted from a bowling alley parking lot. Detectives found her body three days after the abduction.
quote:

“(Blank) kild (sic) Carla Walker in Benbrook,” says the undated note to a homicide detective with the Fort Worth Police Department.
quote:

It also says, “P.S. It is hard to say but it is true.”

Before and after the postscript, the letter says “Sign 10100,” which investigators believe is police code for dead body, the Dallas Morning News reports.

Anyways, it scared the buhjeezus out of me and now I can't go back to sleep.

Here's an NBC news article that reveals another interesting fact:

quote:

Walker's body was found dumped in a culvert near Benbrook Lake three days later. Police said she was beaten, raped, strangled and tortured alive for two days after her disappearance. Then there was a puzzling discovery. The medical examiner ruled that the killer injected her with morphine.

In 1974,morphine was a little hard to come by. I wonder if it was a nurse or doctor. Also the fact this person knew the Dallas police code for a dead body might mean they were another cop and swiped it from an evidence locker.

Anyways, yeah I know I probably oughta take this shite to websleuths or reddit, but meh.

This is someone in their mid-60’s, at the very least...I think you could take him if he showed up at your door.

OP wrote the letter to confess so he’d become famous then came here so story would get a little more notoriety before he was brought in.

When are the cold case guys going to solve the five murders of prostitutes from the early 1980s?

Wasn't the military still using morphine at that point. Perhaps it's somebody who had returned from Vietnam and had a little "left over" morphine.

Why would that scare you? Go adjust your track lighting and put some beard oil in your hipster beard.

If that scares you then I don’t suggest reading the letters Albert Fish wrote to his attorney or to the mother of Grace Budd

They believe it is? They’re cops, shouldn’t they know?
