If you watch the video of the journalist retreating, they walk right past a "private road sign." I'm sure the journalist accessed his property some other way that doesn't involve trespassing though.

Here lemme help you out again, lunchy

quote:

is knocking on someone's door trespassing

quote:

No, knocking on someone's door is generally not considered trespassing, as it is considered an implied license for the public to approach and knock. This is based on the understanding that a front door is an invitation for visitors to make contact with the occupants. However, if the property has clearly posted "No Trespassing" signs, or if the person is asked to leave and refuses, then it could be considered trespassing.

Basically word for word exactly what me and the other non bootlicking posters in this thread have been saying.

Legally, private road and no trespassing are two different things.

Perhaps a good learning opportunity

ORLY?
quote:

Yes, in many cases, a "Private Road" sign is equivalent to a "No Trespassing" sign in terms of its legal implications and warning against unauthorized entry. Here's why:

Private ownership:
A "Private Road" sign clearly indicates that the road is owned by a private entity and is not a public thoroughfare.

Implied permission:
Unless the owner has given express or implied permission for public access (like a public easement), using a private road without consent can be considered trespassing.

Owner's intent:
"Private Road" signage signals the owner's intent to control who enters their property, similar to a "No Trespassing" sign.

Therefore, entering a private road without the owner's permission, even if there isn't a specific "No Trespassing" sign, can still lead to legal repercussions like trespassing charges.

You’ll notice 99% say “private road, no trespassing” for a reason.

Case law doesn't appear to agree with you.

There is no defending this fricking weasel unless you know the guy. He "backed away" as slowly as possible knowing full well he had no business on private property. Everyone involved is a piece of shite.

This was his first trip to officers home and there were not any "no trespassing" signs posted.

Wait, you and the lard arse youtuber thought the "private road" sign only applies to vehicles?

Obviously the youtuber thought that. Thats why he left his car on the road, and then walked up A PRIVATE ROAD without permission. You get that he knew what he was doing, right? Private road, no car. But since I'm a journalist I can approach his door cuz 1st Amendment.

When the sign clearly says "this is not public access for you to get to my porch. Through my lawn"

And since he was arrested for criminal trespass and an injunction was granted, AFTER the officers checked the legality of his claim, hes now just trying to gin up support for his coming trial

Oh no one is awesome in it

My only semantic left here is he was clearly strolling away (made it through the “front yard” and essentially to the drive) until the guy ran up on him with the gun and went chest to chest, where even then he didn’t stop backing away….

Private Road = no thru roadway

Not same as no trespassing sign

And people think just being on his property with a reason is trespassing in itself. Hell, the guy is a cop and if YouTube guy was breaking the law just for coming up to his door, he could have arrested him

He didn't do that, ergo no crime.

It doesn't need to have a sign, there is no legal requirement to have a "no trespassing" sign, you learn this in pre-k. If it isnt yours, dont touch.

It is

LINK

Might not be a crime, but he is definitely trespassing. He doesnt have permission from the owner to be there.

Why are yall trying to disparage your rights as property owners? Have a problem with the guy for something that happens at his work? Go to his work, file a complain, follow up with his work, expose his work for covering it up. Probably not a good idea to go to his house.
