Comparing excess deaths seems like the only way to get a real feel for how many deaths there were related to covid. All of the numbers being provided are pretty much meaningless.

I’m not saying mistakes have not been made in over reporting. But I’ve had 2 patients die from COVID in the last 2 weeks. Both men were in their 50s. And this is a clinic in a small town in Louisiana. To think that there is no way numbers are close to what is being reported totally contradicts my anecdotal experience.
And for perspective, I’ve had COVID and my wife was hospitalized due to COVID recently. Yet I’m still of the opinion we need to open up and live our lives. The opinion that COVID is serious and the opinion that we should open up and let people live their lives aren’t mutually exclusive.

These tricks of reporting allow the narrative to be continued
My Grandpa would comment on the # of cases being reported by WBRZ on the 4:00 news when he would call me at 4:30
Once I explained to him that those 600 cases were out of 12,000 tests he was pissed

Buddy of mine's 79 year old father in law just died. He has been fighting his second bought of cancer for a couple of years and was on his last leg. Chemo wasn't working and his body was beat to hell. Caught the Covid and died. Everyone in the family said that he was clearly going to die with or without Covid. Covid is listed as a cause of death (I assume as one of his causes of death - not sure if they assign a primary/secondary cause of death).

To be fair some of those heart attacks were secondary to covid. But not all of them to be sure.
To be fair we don’t have these standards for any other virus.
I’m sure many illnesses are the tipping point for someone on the brink of a STEMI.
Imagine if in the past we tested every patient coming in for a heart attack for the flu or common cold viruses. Just by chance, MANY of those patients would test positive. But we wouldn’t list them as common cold deaths.
So no, I don’t think it’s fair at all.

I’ve heard the same thing

This really isn't that big of a surprise to me. Hell, on the LA DHH website it clearly says that if a person dies of anything and they test positive for COVID it will be counted as a COVID death.
You can literally die of decapitation in an auto accident, be posthumously tested positive for COVID and you will be counted as a COVID death. It's insanity.
These are people that died WITH covid, not died BECAUSE of covid. That one word difference is huge.

Covid is to blame for these auto accidents because people cough and lose control over the wheel, sad that y’all will use any excuse to make trump look better for letting people die

OAN story fed by Trump's unqualified cronies that were put in place at the CDC to control the narrative...color me shocked.

Thank you for thinking freely.

He admits it’s an anecdote and doesn’t truly mean anything. 2 deaths in two weeks isn’t a lot even for a small town.

You seem to have missed the larger point he was making, but that's not surprising.

I was expecting to find a link to a news story. Found a link to OAN instead.
