"MPD, with the blessing of the Liberto family, had plans this month, to ceremoniously clean up Captain Liberto’s makeshift memorial and replace the tattered flags with a small, permanent memorial.
However, some evil, hated filled, individual/s thought it better to desecrate the site.
MPD is asking anyone who may have any information pertaining to this disgusting, disrespectful act, to call the Mandeville Police Department; (985) 626-9711.
This act represents the .0001% of our population who has bought into this “cop hate” agenda. It does not define our community, the Mandeville Police Department, or the Liberto family!"

Update on the link. Someone cleaned up the site and bought new flags to put up. They contacted MPD and cleared up the confusion. Family is frustrated obviously. I mean, do good....but be thoughtful...

I drove by earlier and they had three units out there with their lights on. Didn’t realize what was going on at the time. They must have just showed up as they weren’t cleaning or anything.

A group that cares for the memorial removed the old tattered flags with plans to replace them, tomorrow, with new ones- for the 1 year anniversary. Someone just saw that the flags were gone and threw a temper tantrum like a 2 year old and it somehow made the news.

Saw the flags were gone on Thursday and thought “good they were too worn to be displayed”. Did not pitch a fit or post on social media.
