No idea. Never been on a bench in my life. I do mostly body weight, cardio, dumbbells, and some machines. Never really “benched” so probably not

does he have a 5'10" wingspan, b/c that would help explain this a little bit.

Look man, i know there are some freaks in this world that do things that are out of the ordinary. You don't know how much time someone is spending on a certain craft to impress someone. Maybe this dude is focusing on bench press a lot more than you know. I've got a friend who would rep 315+ on bench press, then go over to the incline bench and would struggle doing reps with 185lbs. I don't even know how that's possible. I mean you expect to not be able to do the same on incline, but his decline in his max from bench to incline bench was huge. His only focus was bench press. We'd go over and do back and biceps and me and my buddy would rep with more than him. If you practice a certain exercise more than normal and push yourself, of course you can achieve feats that seem unlikely.

all i'm saying is benching 305lbs is no easy feat for anyone, and very likely would require years of weight lifting training and the right physique to achieve it. at 6'1" 180lbs, on top of the fact you're practicing tennis every day, i find it extremely unlikely that person is benching 305.

I’m 230 and I bench 225 4 sets of 10 when I go light weight.

315 4x5 on heavy days.

One rep max was 365 but I haven’t did a Max since January.

dont need to be in there everyday. atleast do pushups, chinups and lunges.

and resistance training isnt nearly as impactful as pickle ball. resistance training=fountain of youth. proven over and over again.

Of course it isn’t “easy”

But making all state in 3 sports in high school, tennis not being one of them, isn’t easy either

Weightlifting 4 mornings a week 5:30-630am every morning is t easy either

Being an all sec athlete isn’t easy either

We aren’t talking about normal people here

Unless he got serious about weights at lsu, no way. He played 3-4 sports in HS and that I guarantee werent benching hard, much less lifting heavy at all

they used to, but most professionals arent. much better ways to train the speed portion of the velocity curve and attack weaknesses than learning a complicated olympic lift.

i still lvoe the clean but its not the end all be all in any way shape or form that so many like to make it out to be.

You realize his older brother was a body builder right? And said player on our team supplemented and worked out additional with him at the rec

We actually had to tell him to stop lifting as much…. 305 was his necked down number. He was well over that at one point, but he was also almost pushing 200 lbs in weight…

This seems like it calls for a PROOF thread.

Drag a scale near the bench, weigh, show the bar loaded up equal to weight, one rep. Should all fit in a GIF.

BTW…I am 43, in the gym 5 days a week, and seriously don’t know what my bench max is. I haven’t done a one rep max since high school.

I’ll really throw the board into a frenzy here, both our assistant coach and head coach could rep 225 lbs 5 times

Our assistant coach could rep it 9 times

Lester’s post made no sense

Football was one of his sports in high school. I am pretty sure they bench pretty hard at Rummel for football

Do you think lift, especially the bench press, are linear? How many lineman at lsu are throwing up 450+ of the bench?

The Clean isn’t that complicated. I don’t believe that they aren’t doing them.

Any athlete doing explosive movements are doing them in some form. Whether it’s a power clean or just a heavy pull.

No I don’t think it’s linear

Probably not, but you haven't known what you are talking about yet so why start now?
