Came across this quote today related to teenagers and their dads
Posted by rickgrimes on 6/17/22 at 11:18 pm783
Thought it was interesting enough to share:
“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.”
Guess most of us have been there.

Okay, I did not know that and I came across it in the comments section of some Youtube video, but it still rings true

My dad always made sure I knew I was a dumbass

I wish I would have listened to my dad about saving more money when I was younger.

It's incredible how ignorant most of you are to extremely famous literary figures

I'm pretty sure about 20-21 was when I realized my dad wasn't a dumbass. Has that shifted?
My dad is my best friend now too. Funny how that changes. I can still hear his voice in my head.
"Fallguy, if you get her pregnant you'll ruin your life or you might get aids"
I can't imagine being a teenaged boy with no father. It's a formula that has to have a 90% failure rate.

It was the opposite for me because my dad is ridiculously liberal.

I am however familiar with Greta Thunberg's famous quote: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
Does that count?

My parents were both 38 when I was born so I guess because they were older I thought my dad literally never made a mistake when I was growing up

It really is a very odd life moment. Almost simultaneously you realize that your parents know way more than you ever gave them credit for and also that they are not perfect and make mistakes.

I envy you. Everything I learned from my dad was from not doing what he did. It's been a recipe for success.

"I was only 17 back then but it seems like I knew more than I do now..." I think every man realizes at a certain age that the world they thought they had by the balls was actually in reverse.
