Ingrid Vilorio, a fast-food worker at a Jack In The Box in the San Francisco Bay Area, said the increase in salary next year will bring some relief to her family, who until recently was sharing a house with two other families to afford rent.

That raise is going to help get them another house so they don't have to share?

Crazy how many people are against other people making more money. When other people make more, it puts upward pressure on wages for everyone and everyone is better off other than the massively wealthy and profitable corp.

How is it that you progressive dumbasses can never seem to grasp the most basic of economic principles?

This is what comes next in our "Let's be fair" culture.

Are you a dude that wants to identify as a woman? Let's be fair...you can do that.

Are you an EBR bus driver? A Cali fast food worker? Tired of minimum wage? Let's be fair...you need to make more than minimum wage.

Pretty soon the line between minimum wage and blue collar will smear just like the one between male and female has.

Because all people deserve more than what they are/have and we can figure out the imbalance later.

Yep. They're already showing up in Texas where the state legislature wouldn't do anything like this.

Texas also has a test pilot McD where a robot is the fry cook.

I posted almost the same thing a couple minutes after you.

These idiots have no idea how economics works and how they’re just increasing the cost of living and inflation for everyone in their state.

To be fair, in most California markets the entry wage is higher than that in order to attract workers. A lot of employers offer benefits and retirement plans in order to entice people.

And that's how a free market works. So why the heck do they have to legislate anything?

Idiots like you shouldn’t be allowed to vote or reproduce. Here I’ll explain it.
Company has to pay these things as overhead…..
1. Labor
2. Power, gas.
3. Building lease or payment
4. Taxes on income and property
5. Insurance of about 10 different things
6. Cost of products the sale
7. Maintenance and up keep.
Then comes the profit. These things are all figured into the bottom line of the coast of their product YOU buy. If ONE of these costs go up the cost YOU pay goes up. So YOU and all the dumbasses who thinks money grows on trees end up paying for the uneducated burger flippers to make $20 god damn dollars and hour. You complete idiot.

$20 in California won't do anything but just eliminate these fast food jobs. Fast food is not an industry you support a family or yourself with. Fast food is where high school and college kids work to get extra cash. The minimum wage in California should be $35 to support yourself and even that is low. That state is so messed up, I never understand why so many idiots flood it. Unless you an executive or in the tech sector you will be scraping by if not homeless.

Less hours for employees. Automated drive thru speakers. Kiosk ordering inside. Fire some employees. Automated fry and burger machines. Raised prices on food.

Are we missing anything?

Best thing is that with all this additional money in their workers pockets, the surrounding community will never raise their prices (knowing that people who work fast foot are not going to save any of it).

Nope. Gonna be just like the COVID stimmy money. This extra money will go straight to savings!!!

Why only $22?

Why not $40?

Why not $100?

I mean, hell...just have a bunch if fricking pandering politicians flip a switch and PRESTO your get paid more with no repercussions anywhere else in the industry.
