Son is going to DC for the Pro Life March and needs a pair of boots. I assumed water proof if the way to go in case of snow/rain but someone mentioned to me that if/when these DO get wet that they'll take longer to dry as opposed to non waterproof.

Anyone have any suggestions?

get some waterproof flip flops

they repel water, yet take almost no time to dry out

win/win

Yes but a little cold in DC for that. Last year the group that went said the weather was so bad and cold and snowy .. just want to make sure he has what he needs.

Get waterproof LLBean. I just got my daughter a pair because she's going to DC for a Pro-Choice March and needed a pair and they are perfect.

Just get him these. They are comfortable, warm, and waterproof:

Yes to waterproof. Being able to walk through puddles and shite is an unparalleled luxury

The only surefire way not to get wet is a diver suit with the big bubble face mask

if getting a pair of boots for everyday use, waterproof is always the best choice. Wet feet suck. He shouldn't need something like 8" boots but even just a waterproof oxford goes a long way.

Something wrong with anyone not owning a pair of these.

Agreed.

But I would not want to "march" with those on.

Get a pair of Timberland hiking boots. Water proof and super comfortable. I wear mine in my barn, pastures, everywhere and have no complaints.

I find duck boots to be kind of crappy for normal use b/c they don't have good traction on pavement/sidewalks, etc.
