Why are you so vested in this "cause "? Why is it consuming you ? It wouldn't hurt for both sides too simmer down and put this "media driven" shite show into perspective. I can think of 1001 different issues that need addressing before we get here. I fully support the use of that flag in a memorial setting. I also cherish the countless memorials dedicated to the young men who "gave their all" in defense of the Southland. The reason these monuments (that are currently being defaced by radicals ) exist today is because the "mother's and wives" (not politicians or bigots ) of over 300k men wanted us to never forget them, and many have not.

like when southern states didn't want to desegregate schools, churches, and other places and displayed the confederate battle flag in protest of the federal government?
Precisely.
Anyone who is proud of the "culture" of the Confederate Flag needs to re-examine their lives, or simply learn a little more about that culture they're so proud of.

Just tired of the blatant lying of the history and origin of that flag as well as what the civil war was fought for. Not only that but recent history of the civil rights movement from the 1960's and the southern states reluctance and outright rebellion of not wanting to afford black people the same rights as whites. All because of white supremacy.
And now just in this thread there's someone saying that the charleston shooter wasn't even a racist now
it's laughable and quite sad at the same time that people can't just admit our history is dark as southerners.

But that would go against the whole "state's rights" line that everyone keeps saying.
Not really because we are a democracy, not a dictatorship. The Governor is only one small part of that system and not the end all be all.

Now we all know that's bullshite, but if he had said the charleston shooter wasn't "just" a racist, he would have been correct..... Am I right?

Reminds me of watching FOXN the morning after the shooting.

Why didn't they just shoot her down? Climbing a flag pole that high is unsafe.

I'm surprised she wasn't shot honestly

I'm sure there would have been a large contingent of people around here that would have called it justified and said things like she got what she deserved and called her a thug piece of shite, etc...

That's not hyperbole and you know it. I didn't say everyone would say it. But I'd be willing to bet there would be a fairly large number echoing that sentiment or something similar.

The Alabama governor said to take the ones down in his state by executive order. The South Carolina governor could have done the same. It's ridiculous that a failed rebellion of the United States is honored in states with the confederate battle flag.

Is 100% pure hyperbole. I doubt many sensible people would ever call for anyone to be shot for such a simple act as taking down that flag. Especially with how inconsequential of an act it turned out to be.

I love how people down vote your post. When we all know this thread would go that route in a heartbeat.
