I think the fact of the matter is this, he owns the building the sign is attached to. If I buy a house with a billboard built on the property, I can make them remove it from my property. If someone puts up something on my property and doesn't have my permission (art work, graffiti, an ad) I can cover it up and make the person pay to have it removed. Or I can cover it up and ask the owner to pay me for right to use my property. Doesn't matter if he owns the sign or not, he has the right to tell them that they can't display the sign there without paying him for the use of his property.

Well you're wrong.

quote:

Let me fill you in. In 2002, the then-storm-damaged sign was donated by Pete and Joy Richoux to the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. The Downtown Development District brokered the deal, which included an agreement with both Coca-Cola and Entergy. The former agreed to handle and pay for all maintenance of the sign, while the latter vowed to provide free power to light it, so long as the sign was donated to the Arts Council.

That’s why Coca-Cola just dropped $20,000 on maintenance, and why they’ve spent in the neighborhood of $150,000 over the past 30 years maintaining a sign they (and you) don’t own.

Yet in a letter from your attorney, you bitched about needing money for maintenance of the sign. Mutherfricker, they just spent $20,000 fixing the goddam thing!

Then he legally can't frick with it. If it weren't his I think we'd have heard about him getting arrested for tampering with others' property or maybe you would provide a link. Something, anything. It sounds like you're just talking out of your arse. Maybe you have reasons for being aloof about your "knowledge" but seriously, what do you expect us to think?

They knocked 15k off the building when the owner bought it when they told him the sign belonged to the arts council.

It doesn't belong to him and I expect the arts council to take down the sign and place it elsewhere because this building owner is a dick.

My dad always said, "If you share office space with someone, make sure you own the roof."

If the owner's attorney truly didn't know that the tarp was taken off, I doubt the dispute has been resolved.
