What if the kid jumped the fence and drowned in a fountain on the property? Do we ban all evil murderous fountains? Water features can be deadly you know.
You don't see a difference? What about the cases where a pit is roaming and kills a kid? Attractive nuisance and blood thirsty dogs that we bred to kill are pretty different.

WTF?

What does that have to do with the story at hand? Generally speaking, I agree that the average dog owner shouldn't own a pit(knowing the average owner doesn't train nor exercise any dog enough), but you are absolutely terrible at arguing your point. Once you let emotion take over, you lose the debate.

If you don't think this story screams trailer park/hood, then I don't know what to tell you. You really think this dog, left alone in the front yard while owners were gone, was a loved family dog that had good dog owners?
Do you really think that's the case here?
I have no idea. All I know is what you know based on the article provided. This kid knew this dog and had played with it in the past. I can't say with 100% certainty, but the fact that the child had been allowed to be around and play with this dog leads me to believe that the dog was at least somewhat trusted around people. But for some reason this time when the kid came into contact with this dog that he'd played with in the past, the dog chose to attack and kill him.
As for the owners being "good" or "bad", I don't have any idea what sort of owners they are, nor do you. They had their dog fenced in their back yard which shows they at least somewhat tried to keep the dog contained.
And one more thing, it's a lame argument to try and blame all these pit bull attacks on the owners being "trailer park/hood" as though pit owners of a higher social standing have nothing to fear from their dog. The truth of this breed is that they can be great family pets and may never harm a fly. But even the most gentile pit is still an animal and incapable of logic. They are ruled by animal instinct. And this breed has proven that any of them can simply go off at any time without warning and do so with deadly consequences.

It is. Maybe just a little. Other breeds don't kill so often.

wahtever this all means...
breed of dog was no coincidence. May be many breeds that could attack or bite...
not many leaves a 6 yr old dead in minutes.

I can't believe every super parent in here has never let their 6 year old out of their sight for 5 minutes

Then the same must be said for every dog
Golden Retriever / Lab mix kills infant
5 year old mauled by Labrador...saved by Pitbull
Boxer kills child
Black lab puppy (6 weeks old) kills child
BAN ALL DOGS!!!

Cows/Bulls kill around 20 people per year too.. BAN ALL ANIMALS
And how many cows are there in this country compared to pit bulls? You have to look at percentages not just raw numbers.
