As someone who has never had to deal with a boil alert...do you just toss all of your ice and turn the maker off?

Just don’t drink out of the faucet, I never worried about ice or brushing your teeth with the water

New Orleans water is very tasty and good to drink. Just chew it well before you swallow.

Make sure you boil water before washing dishes. Don’t use the faucet to wash dishes

Where is infrastructure Joe when you need him?

"Look, folks, it's okay, just don't brush your teeth tonight."

Is this because of the weather earlier?

No. You just keep living life.

I’ve never boiled water.

My ice makers have filters and I have a Kentwood water dispenser for drinking

You’ve never lived anywhere that had instances or low water pressure or pumps down due to power outages? Never?

I don’t believe you.

Power fails at Carrollton water plant, dropping pressure in New Orleans, S&WB says

Residents in Faubourg Marigny, near Fair Grounds, in Irish Channel report low pressure

Entergy New Orleans power to the Carrollton water treatment plant failed Wednesday evening, dropping water pressure across the east bank of the city.

Sewerage & Water Board staffers were working to measure the drop and said the agency will announce at about 8 p.m. whether customers should boil water before drinking it.

Complaints on Twitter showed residents in Faubourg Marigny, near the Fair Grounds and in the Irish Channel were experiencing low pressure.

Heavy rains and even a tornado caused a host of issues for residents Wednesday. Many woke up to howling wind, toppled trees, downed utility lines and power outages. Almost 9,500 Entergy customers in Jefferson and Orleans parishes were without electricity at about 10:45 a.m., but most power was restored by the evening, according to the Entergy outage map.

S&WB staff couldn't confirm whether the morning's severe weather caused the Carrollton plant's outage or when it started. An Entergy spokesperson said the utility was looking into the problem.
