That’s one hell of a swing. 70s and muggy or 30’s and frosty.

Guess it won’t be till later in the week before these models settle in on a scenario

I supposed I can understand the reasoning behind these flips. We either get a huge ridge or we don't, and whatever setup takes place can dictate the rest of winter (or so I've read).

If you look at 12/24 through 01/01 on The Weather Channel then you'll see temps around 10 degrees below average. I hope that's indicative of Jan-Feb.

Still looking at a very cold (highs in the upper 30's or low 40s) Christmas Even and Christmas Day with a slight possibility of either sleet or flurries Christmas morning.

I'd love to light the fireplace on Christmas morning while my family opens gifts with the curtains pulled open so we can watch flurries fall.

Last two years it's been 80 degrees.
Time for change.

This sounds like a campaign slogan

Would support someone who ran on a colder weather platform, tbh

Southern and Southeastern Louisiana. Lafayette to Baton Rouge, through to the north shore. Looks like NOLA misses out again.

Euro is bringing a warm front through on Sunday. I'm going to be pissed if I leave Houston for BR and it ends up being cold here and warm in BR.

I like the trend! At least it appears as we get closer we will at least get the cold for Christmas. At this point any wintery precip is lagniappe.

Correct. The trend is definitely for us to have a very cold stretch from 12/25 thru 12/29. Highs don't get out of the 30's for Baton Rouge through that entire time. Lows in the mid 20s. Given the fact that the GFS and most other models are usually warmer in the winter time for our deep south location, I could certainly see our lows dipping into the 10's for one or two of those nights with highs around 30 instead. I'm reading other sources mentioning LOW 10's down to the coastline during that time. That's of course not official but just speculation at this point. Imagine that, though, if you will --- low 10's down to the coast would probably equate to 5-9 degrees for the Baton Rouge area.

I'm not saying that is the forecast, it's just speculation by some in the meteorological spheres.

Stay tuned! Going to buy my firewood today.
