If I let someone borrow my car and they wreck. It's covered.

Prepandemic I bought my then 14 year old son a TDI passat with hail damage. 2012 passat with 30k miles on it for $10k. Figured I didn't care about the dings since he was going to hit shite with it anyway. My wife drove it for a couple years before he got his license. I kinda wish I bought 2 of them as the lot was full of them with hail damage. Now currently looking for my other son but haven't seen any deals yet.

Only if they're currently insured elsewhere.. You let an uninsured driver borrow your car and they wreck it your insurance is not going to cover it

Insurance for a jeep is surprisingly on the lower side

I checked on this and you are correct. Seriously considering a JK for numerous reasons, but one is the fact that he(16) is going to drive less than most teens, and the SO and I would get use out of it in April/May/September/October.

Something like a truck frame Ford/Mazda Tribute was always a super low rating symbol.

Civic had a really high rating symbol.

All of these had relatively high rating symbols compared to a Truck Frame Ford Escape or even Buicks. I worked in this field and saw every rate first hand. The info is a decade old however.

Our symbol indicator was a huge factor in pricing. A mustang was a 28 while a Ford Escape was a 6. A Civic was a 16-17 and Accords and Camrys were slightly less. Typically truck frames rated lower as they didn’t total as easily. Buicks rates low even with unibody due to demographic of driver.

I honestly wanted a Tribute just to put the Tenacious D sticker on the back.

I actually looked at and really liked a 2010 Escape.
I looked at a 2009 C300 today. I'm going back Saturday with my buddy's better scan tool. It had no CELs and all the Gizmos worked. No leaks. And the insurance on it is cheaper than the escape. Plus the back seat is too tiny to use so she won't be the taxi.

Though I showed the 14 year old and she liked it better. So I may get it. Let them both use it to drive and still get the oldest a SUV. I'm not looking forward to a five car four driver household. FML

The issue with the Hondas and Toyotas Are they are just so bland. Then it's like why get a civic or corolla when guy can get a camry or accord for the same price.
