Where is this 15k number coming from? The majority of private schools in NOLA don't even hit 10k with fees included.

They are talking about Episcopal which is the most expensive school in BR. There are plenty of private schools here that are sub 10k

If those kids come from meager backgrounds, then I'm curious what the justification is for 15k per year per student.

That kind of money would seem to exceedingly outweigh the cost of running any school.

Public schools spend close to that

I don't know who threw out 15k, but that's very high at every level.

It's probably 5k-6k up until high school...and then about 9k-10k in high school on average.

I'm going to call actual bullshite on your post because I've actually been involved with plenty of private schools. It sounds more like your family has issues than anything to do with the private schools themselves. You even have to inflate your numbers (I mean really, 150-250k? What school would that be?) as it would cost less than 100k for a kid to go K-12 right now in a Catholic school system.

EBR public schools certainly lack ethnic diversity.

So you are the only person discussing monetary value of multiple people at a time in this thread. Got it sunshine.

The bottom line is in BR (and I'd assume Nola too) your kid can either test high enough for a magnet program, you can put them in a private school or you can move to the burbs. All are decent options depending on your family situation

But if you think it is irrefutable that your precious little babies are going to practice those "unambiguous morals" that Catholic schools take 10-20k of your money for, you're simply blind. All of my cousins siphoned money from family to attend these schools, and two of them are tattooed bartenders on Bourbon street. Another is a freeloader. Half of the girls around here I've met who attended Catholic schools their whole lives are straight up sluts. Hearing stories from private school teachers about how their students talk about fricking each other at age 13 and destroying school property by jumping on desks and face no consequences because their parents are grappled by the balls from these schools... Not to mention the fact as brought up by a couple posters on this thread that the lack of ethnic diversity in these schools teach your kids a huge lesson about race, money, and power; a lesson which is completely incongruent with Jesus's actual teachings

Your anecdotal ramblings simply don't align with actual statistics from New Orleans Catholic schools

Or you could be wildly misstating what I actually said . You also seem very angry . Not to mention you are conflating numerous specific points about specific schools into some bias- confirming- narrative. Try to stay calm and reread what I actually said and you will feel better. And for the record, I never used the terms " Catholic" in implying anything negative about them. I'm a fan of the Catholic schools.

I have lived in BR since I graduated from college. My oldest son graduated from a private school in BR and my youngest son attended the same private school from pre-K through 8th grade. I can count on one hand the number of B's that my youngest son made from grades 1-8. Due to changes at the school we decided to send him to another school for grades 9-12. We considered all of the top private schools in BR but when he got into BR Magnet HS we decided to go that route. It was ultimately his choice. He wants to make straight A's and so far he is on track for that in the first 9 weeks of Freshman year. But it is challenging. He never had to study before and all of his homework would be done before he got home. Now he has homework every night and I see him studying more since school has started this year than ever before. He said that his old private school was a joke compared to BRMHS. We will see how it goes but so far we have been very happy with the quality of education at BRMHS. Sure there are no major sports and my son is a baseball player but he realizes that his future is in academics.

I have a freshman and a junior there. My freshman at LSU is happy to be in a less taxing academic environment. She says it's easy compared to HS. One of her friends started at Alabama with over 60 credit hours . Crazy, huh ?

Belle Chasse is probably the best for the Nola area

I graduated from there in 2012. They don't put up with BS, sports are above average and a few of my classes were just as hard as some college courses.
