The BR school system sucks because of the students and their parents. I know an elementary school teacher in BR that said she had 2 kids in her entire class last year that lived in 2 parent homes.

Sure. I don't see how that changes anything I posted.

Once again, it seems that Louisiana is ruled by antiquated ideology while Texas flourishes.

Even Mississippi is starting to pass us up.

BR just doesn't want it to happen because these areas are the majority of the tax base.

The St. George area tried to get a school district before any talk of incorporating and were fought tooth and nail. The only reason incorporation became an option was because they thought it would allow them to get the school district.

That's my I-10 analysis.

This is 100% accurate

But some of you public school folk are missing something big. Sometimes people just want their kids in Christian environments and the 10k is worth their kids being around places where morals aren't ambiguous.

I don't think that we've heard the last of that movement. I just wonder how all of the annexations BR has made will impact its viability.

Move to the North shore. All St Tammany schools are great. Why would anyone want to move to Nola or BR?

I didn't sign the petition the first time. However, between those unethical annexations and our new room temperature IQ mayor, I'll be signing next time.

In BR/NO, you'll want to go private school. Trust me.

Baton Rouge High is a very good school.

If you're moving to BR, live in Ascension Parish and send your kids to either St Amant, Dutchtown, or East Ascension. All 3 are really good schools academically and have good athletic programs.

I signed it and I will again even if I still might not put my kids there.

They are hungrier and more aspirational kids in general. As kids who have had to work for everything usually are.

This is pretty funny coming from a parent who is banking the 180k he would otherwise be spending on tuition and is benefiting from the quality of education that would only be available based on the subsidization of the school system by parents who choose to spend their hard earned money to put their kids in the best environment they can no matter the cost.

To suggest that, in Baton Rouge, the families in private schools are rich lack ethics and the kids spoiled is either ignorance, or you trying to convince yourself of something.

Go walk though any catholic school in the area and come to the conclusion that it is made up only of rich kids. I guarantee you that there are MANY (probably the majority) who are from more meager backrounds than you.

Inner city schools are not flourishing in Texas. It's the suburb ISDs where all the goods schools are located. Kinda like the proposed St George

If those kids come from meager backgrounds, then I'm curious what the justification is for 15k per year per student.

That kind of money would seem to exceedingly outweigh the cost of running any school.

Yes, what wouldn't I be for real about? I was taught the Gospel in class. We prayed at school as part of curriculum. We had in-school mass. You going to tell me that a child can get that in a public school?

15k is pretty much the most expensive school in BR. There are private schools that are 5-6k.

Where is this 15k number coming from? The majority of private schools in NOLA don't even hit 10k with fees included.

Sounds like that is an anomaly. It isn't the end all be all but there is a correlation
