Some of the private schools in BR are not as good as some of the suburb schools like Zachary, Dutchtown and Central. And you already pay for them with taxes.

This. It allows those that are more advanced to learn a lot of more advanced things without the limitation of the ability of other students.

Except it doesn't lack . You just think it lacks. It just focuses on other things . Things you value and I don't and vice versa . I'm not sure why you are so emotional and defensive about this. While we ponder that, Let me just give you some numbers....

15 k a kid . 180 k post- taxable income ( so around 250 k gross) over five years for three kids. 180k invested, over time results in how much again ? That half million or so might be better spent than to secure your kid a spot on the football team, just saying. Especially if your kids don't care about football games.

So send em where you want and God bless you. It's a fine school full of great families, some of whom are among my closest friends . And I'll " survive" at BRMHS and my kids will thrive as well . We both win- you according to your values and me to mine.

You might get a great education at Ben Franklin but it's full of liberal wack jobs and not for us.

Lots of good peer groups at Zachary, Central and Dutchtown that don't cost $15k/yr.

I am sure the buying of peer groups will continue to college with frats/sororities.

The assumption being that Christian schools provide a Christian environment?
Not necessarily the case.
Also, pockets of public schools can be Christian environments with FCA and just friend groups from church youth.

So far it looks like Zachary and Mandeville seem like they are the way to go.

I couldn't imagine 15k per year per kid to go to school. That's absolutely ridiculous and I wouldn't do it on principle alone.

Maybe the Louisiana school system wouldn't be so shitty if there weren't as many well-to-do private schools. Imagine those kids and that money circulating through our public school system and we might even have some schools comparable to Texas.

Maybe you'll remember a few years ago here in BR where a group tried to have a school district controlled by the local parents like they do in Texas ... and people flipped the frick out.

We tried to do this a couple years ago with a petition to create the city of St. George. Essentially, we wanted to do what Zachary did.

Well, obviously the first two that come to mind are Zwolle and Grant (in Dry Prong). After that, I'm not sure.

A lot of the city's big money makers are on the side of town that would of become St. George. The mall, Perkins Rowe, The Casino, and Blue Bayou to name a few.

If you want to stay in BR this is the only way it comes in handy.

Other than that join a frat in college if that is the preferred method to get ahead.

The BR school system sucks because of the students and their parents. I know an elementary school teacher in BR that said she had 2 kids in her entire class last year that lived in 2 parent homes.

Central did the same thing. BR just doesn't want it to happen because these areas are the majority of the tax base.
