We always went for beers and sandwiches. Cool vibe always.
Back in 1980 a next door neighbor played in new wave band there (don't remember if they even had a name). He turned me on to some great music.
One night they were playing Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers".
So my buddy sang the lyrics "We're so funky now" not realizing that the actual lyrics are "Jeux sans frontieres".
At the end of the show I told him about it. Being the cool guy that was he said thanks. I made a copy of the lyrics sheet from the album and they killed it next time they played.
My story and I stick to the part I remember.

It was the best place to go see bands in the 80's.
No mention of Dash Riprock so far? They were a blast.
The Circuit Breakers were my favorite though, great old rocking blues.
The Shoes were fun, Chris Thomas played a few times and was really talented. Lots of others.

New Year's Eve probably 1990 or 91, The Guttersharks played.
1991. I was there. No CSB but good times. I seem to remember jumping on stage to sing along with the chorus of Cult’s “Wildflower”.

Doing a line of coke off the toilet lid with a roadie from Snow Patrol, then raging with the band and groupies till dawn.

They signed with a major record label but left after a couple years of the label stringing them along. One of their songs was played as the presenters walked out at the MTV Movie Awards. That was probably their peak.

We definitely know each other. Played there from 97-00, moved to Atl but came back with another band and played there few years.
Good times, very good times.

Should've paid rent there in the early '80's. Several really good bands. Went in one weeknight and, much to my surprise, the musical fare for the evening was a harpist. She was very good, though unexpected. Always wondered what the deal was with that unusual choice. My inebriated advances were spurned, by the way.

Scariest memory was watching Katrina's cone if doom center over New Orleans as a Cat 5 that Friday night. Scary/drunk weekend.

And that has nothing to do with the post you replied to. The projected path was centered over NOLA a couple days before it hit. And it was projected to hit as a cat 5. So on the weekend before Katrina, it is very likely that people were looking at the projections in fear.
