They didn’t sell as many as chevys but I do see old 4runners trucks and land cruisers every once in a while

LS engine built in the 90’s.
I believe it.
I have an 1987 4x4 Nissan hardbody still going. Changed the clutch twice, radiator was me wanting to go aftermarket as I ran it hard in the desert, and changed the ac compressor.
Basic maintenance such as new spark plug wires and new spark plugs every 50,000 miles.
The rest was regular maintenance changing the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles , rear end fluid 30,000, and oil regularly 5,000 miles.

CHAIN...no way in Hell a belt lasted that long.
If he had that engine apart and didn't spend a few bucks on a new timing chain. That wasn't very smart.
The highest mileage car on record is Irv Gordon's 1966 Volvo P1800S, with over 3 million miles.

Had a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 463,000 miles on it before it retired…lol.

I’ve had 3 Toyotas hit 300,000 with no issues and sold them while they were running just fine.
Current car has 197. Might as well go for 1 million with this one.

Why are you changing transmission fluid in a manual that often?
That’s completely unnecessary.
20,000 hours isn’t unheard of for an engine- and even with 80s tech like the 350 he has.
What I can’t stand is this…..
Show me a small block Chevy with a timing belt and I will kiss your butt hole.
And yes, I know you CAN get a Jesel belt drive- and a number of Chinesium ones- but GM never put a belt “on the assembly line”

It deserves a mention that while Ben Welch’s 1994 Chevy Suburban still has its original engine block in place — along with the same timing belt installed on the U.S. assembly line nearly 30 years ago

Haven’t seen them mentioned in the thread yet, sorry if missed- but these W123’s are notorious for going over one million miles, and without a doubt have the most million milers still in service- many many cab drivers use them as taxis in 3rd world, ahem i mean “developing” nations .

That’s only like 4k miles a year.. what does he do, only take it out once a year for vacation or something ?
He also bought it used in 99 i think (but don't remember how many miles it had when he got it).
His work was maybe 4 miles round trip. I had used it in high school and my dad had a take home vehicle.
After I got my own car he was still using his take home vehicle.
He is retired now and is having problems that is keeping him from really driving so my mom or myself does the driving.
Funny thing....my moms car (which) was mine only has about 78k miles on it and it's a 2001.

The Lexus vehicles that use the 4.7 are pretty indestructible. I'm 20 years in on my LX470, but it only has 225K on it...so it isn't fully broken-in yet.
