Seth Goshorn has worked as a reading tutor and second-grade teacher for six years, according to a video he posted on TikTok earlier in July. Goshorn says the chief reason for his move is the pay, which is far higher than his teaching gig despite not needing a degree.

Goshorn will work as a stocking 2 coach at Walmart and will help to ensure delivery trucks are unloaded. He says he will make $55,000 per year before bonuses at the new job, compared to $43,000 for his teaching job.

It's a full time salaried position so he probably has good benefits.

He's going to miss those 2-2.5 months off though.

He’s only getting a $200/month raise considering teachers work 10 month schedules versus a 12 month schedule at Walmart.

Good for him. My brother in laws brother is the manager of a WalMart in bumfrick Georgia and makes damn good money, and he’s at least 25% retarded.

A male second grade teacher isn’t a baw, baw.

Trim-a-tree Christmas loads will soon be going out to the stores. Hope he enjoys 70-80 hour weeks with no days off around the holidays.

I'd rather work year round at Walmart than 10 months teaching in a BR public school.

I don't know what the schools are like where this guy lives, but he decided that the summer breaks aren't worth it and he's probably right.

Does that Walmart gig come with a nice taxpayer funded pension?

Teachers get more like 3.5 months off when you account for summers, a week for thanksgiving, 2 weeks for christmas, 1 week for spring break, 1 week for Marci gra and fall break combined.

That’s a shame. We need more male teachers in this country. I’d support paying them more than their female counterparts simply because they’re men.

Neither can teachers. 30 years of teaching is 52 at the earliest.
