A Baton Rouge Police officer has been on administrative leave for nearly three weeks while the police department conducts an internal affairs investigation.
Officer Richmond Barrow Jr. was placed on paid administrative leave on June 7, 2022 by BRPD, according to a police department spokesperson. The reason for the administrative leave is “an administrative investigation,” according to BRPD.
Multiple sources confirm to Unfiltered with Kiran that Officer Barrow is accused of leaking confidential police information to suspects in drug investigations.
Barrow also worked part-time on a division called “Street Crimes.” It’s a special unit that assisted with targeting drug dealers. Being on that unit part-time gave Barrow access to very confidential information, such as when officers would make certain drug busts.
An example provided was a drug bust in Baton Rouge. Sources said when officers arrived at the home, it’s as if the suspect already knew and was standing outside waiting on officers.
Sources said detectives did get a search warrant for Barrow’s cell phone. Since then, his cell phone has been returned to him. Sources said Barrow was allegedly texting a drug dealer requesting thousands of dollars in exchange for confidential intel from police.
Sources added Barrow’s home was involved in a shooting. It happened on Cadillac St. and someone in his yard was shot.

It's about time to just close shop and rebuild that department from scratch. The People will be the new chief.

Corruption in law enforcement is still a very legit thing.

But if you read the OT they won’t cite scum officers as a culprit of attrition with NOPD/BRPD

You are half right. The city police needs to be shut down completely and have the sheriff’s department be the only police force in the parish. BRPD is a useless.

Dude, the Baton Rouge Mayor's office literally sent the names of all of BRPD's BRAVE program CI's to The Advocate and WAFB.
This is small fries.

Looks like they should rename it to Geo, Suzuki, or Kia drive.

everyone loves to blame everything on the DAs/mayors but the police departments are probably equally incompetent and corrupt

Theyve always had some corruption
But the change in NOLA from when crime improved in the 90s and early 2000s to now comes from the top
Morial was corrupt but did care about crime
And obviously Harry Connick was harder on crime than Jason fricking Williams

I’m thrilled to see that as a resident of St. George my tax dollars are going to the right places.

Zillow shows that houses on Cadillac are worth $23k, to $138k.
I don't want to hear all the complaints aboot "No affordable housing".

They are hauling a lot of trash to the parish prison daily. More than i'd expect in recent times.
