Family member fell and went to Lake After Hours late Sunday afternoon. They wrote a prescription and the only drug store that I could find open after 6:00PM Sunday was Walgreens on Government. The one on Coursay and Sherwood Forest now closes at 6:00 like most others I've tried.
Waited in line for 40 minutes for them to tell me it would be a 4 hour wait to have it filled, if then.
Just for future reference does anyone know of any other pharmacy in the Baton Rouge area that stays open on Sunday past 6:00? Several drug stores are open until midnight but not the pharmacy dept.
Thanks...

Walgreens at acadian and government is open 23 hours a day. Not sure which hour they close.

Never mind. See you already tried there. I think that’s the only late night pharmacy in BR.

according to the website, CVS on Jefferson Hwy and on Government are both open until 12. Might want to call and verify first.

Jefferson Hwy 225-292-1871

Government 225-387-5600

Why is it that a hospital can't send you home with the meds you need? At least an initial supply to tide you over.

Baton Rouge is a fricking joke to get a prescription filled any off hours time. There is only one 24 hr pharmacy in BR, Walgreens on Govt and Acadian. The pharmacy closes at 1am for one hour, so the pharmacist can take lunch. Pharmacy assistants cannot fill orders without a pharmacist present (makes sense).
BR use to have three 24 hr pharmacies, Sherwood, Essen, and Govt.
Plus I think CVS had a couple. CVS doesn’t have any now.

I’ve had the same exact issue in years past. I’ve stood in that line before while a pharmacy employee pretty much walks up and down it yelling about how long everything is gonna take. This city is like a banana republic when it comes to services you may actually need.

I used to date a hypochondriac and she bitched about this incessantly. From her several heated bitch sessions, I’d agree that is the only location open 24/7 or close to it.

This means you need a narcotic scrip late on the weekend. This is a national issue not just BR. Thanks to the DEA and other feds it’s a waste of time and effort and dangerous for a place to remain open late. Or even remotely late. Norco that costs 3 bucks to fill is worth a ton on the street. Pharmacists and pharmacies are robbed all the time now so none want to be known as the late night place. Or the “best place” to get a pain Med filled.

Sorry your family memeber had to probably hurt and take Advil until this morning, OP.

I think the pharmacy in the BR General on Bluebonnet will fill prescriptions anytime. Good prices too. It's been a while since I've used it so you may want to verify beforehand though.
