People are still substituting pant size for waist size. 39.7 inch waist probably equals 36/37 pant size. My waist is 37/38 but my pants are 34/35 depending on brand.
I have wondered about this myself.
My chest is close to 44" , but I wear a 42" suit, or a 43".

Just because of this thread, I went and measured my waist, like a fricking moron. My waist is 33.5 inches. I wear a 32 or a 34 depending on the brand and inseam for shorts and jeans, but they definitely fit me very loosely, fwiw.

What are you asking?

Hell I always thought I was short!
Height 70
Weight 182
Waist 33(pants don't know real size)

I measured after I ate brunch today, and was 36" on the dot where I wear my pants. I am wearing size 33 jeans right now, and they are perfect size

I'd like to know the median measurements.
Really fat people affect the average much more than really skinny people.

If she is implying she is a size 4, this does not add up.
5'4,105, would be size 0 or 2.
Also, I request median sizes for Americans, too.
Also, like to see a breakdown by racial lines, too.

Pretty sad. I stay active these days and eat healthy, but I also drink about 2 cases of beer every weekend.
5'10", 175 lbs, 33 inch waist (that's actual 33" waist, I usually wear 31 or 32 pants).

I'm 5'4 & weigh 119 & I'm a size 2-4.
That doesn't add up.

Correct. Waist size is measured at the belly button. But the only garment worn there by men is a kilt....unless you are Erkel. Pants size is typically 3-4" smaller than waist size accept for the super fit which is probably around 15% of the population....if that. Apparently, the O-T is the exception and everyone except Jim Rockford is a tri-athlete.
