This is such a bullshite line. The new law granted greater access to the courts and jury trials for smaller claims
I am proud of you

Just shows that tort reform doesn't fix anything and claims/lawsuits are a small piece of the whole puzzle.
Meh, not really. Too soon to say. None of these have been tried.

Not really surprising. Louisiana voters are dumb enough to elect a governor that's good buddies with the POS ambulance chaser attorneys which are the primary reason auto insurance rates are so high

because lawyers are still wrecking shop and incidence rate is still very high due to distracted driving.

From a government point of view, there are no issues here. It falls directly in line with everything else they touch.

So the affects of any reform supposed to be overnight? If the new law only applies to event occurring after 1/1/21, claims which have one year to be filed, and then may only go to trial 2-3 years after that, how could it be expected to see any substantive changes by this point? Its almost like insurers who are thinking about underwriting here want to see the long term affects before diving into the judicial cesspool that is Louisiana. It is an increase in competition that will ultimately affect the rates

There is ultimately only one group of people opposed to any sort of tort reform. Who is that?

We are the only state with a tort system like the one we have. How is that working out for us?

new laws passed were a watered down shite version of the changes really needed. this was never something that was going to fix a problem overnight.

How were they watered down and what changes were really needed?

“Oh okay, and rates are going up, this year, actually, 2% to date, through October,” Donelon told the Affordable Automobile Insurance Task Force. “But for the three years before this year? Flat even, zero.”
I feel like this is misleading. The only reason rates were flat over the past 3 years was because carriers lowered rates in 2020 during the pandemic when there were fewer cars on the road because so many people were staying home.

Now people are back on the road a lot more, lots of natural disasters, and the price of everything going up because of inflation (including new vehicles and repair costs after a wreck)...only a 2% increase doesn't sound so bad. Hopefully as the new tort law has more time on the books for data to come in on what kind of a difference it made in the average injury claim settlement cost, rates will come down over time.

You’re asking a State Farm salesman what legal changes are necessary

How about Insurance agencies stop paying people to avoid going court.

What about a New York money grubbing bastards lied to people, surely you jest, next are going to say something something next like Goldman Sachs fixes market.

My big plan to fix this when i was younger was to get the arabs to buy insurance companies, investment banks so they could actually war with each other in business world and we could all benefit. It didn’t work

Not surprised. Every guardrail and brick wall or fence next to a road in Baton Rouge is damaged.

Well when the jury pool is filled with idiots who are told over and over and over that Insurance Companies are evil there is no reason to. The Jury will never side with the Insurance company.
