,
WTF?
You know, people (wrongly) run to police for protection, not to get killed. It's probable she was very relieved to see them and was watching for them to arrive.

Isn't there technology that we have that would auto turn a body cam on one you unhosteler a weapon? That should be the solution.
That wouldn't do much good. What happened before the officer pulled his weapon would be just as important than after, if not more so.

I simply agreed with the poster who originally stated that the tenor of this thread is quite different then if the victim was someone else. I know it's true You know it's true. We're up to what six or seven pages now and not one "Dindu".
Because unlike many of these incidents, the victim was not a career criminal engaged in illegal activity at the time.
The Castille shooting was bad imo. The Sterling shooting was 100 percent justified. If you can't see the difference in a shooting with a felon fighting with the police and an Australian woman in her PJs, there's no hope.

The guy you agreeed with is wrong. You're wrong.

And not to victim blame here, but why was she outside anyway?
Saying you aren't victim blaming doesn't mean you aren't. I guess being in the vicinity of some murderous cops was the stupid game she was playing in order to redeem her stupid prize

Even if she walked up with a knife, how the frick would a cop be so terrified of a white woman in PJs with a knife from inside the car?
That's just ridiculous. What's she going to do, throw it like a ninja through the window?
There's got to be more to this and if not, the officer needs to go to jail.
Are cops put through any kind of stress testing simulations before given a firearm? Honest question because it appears these last two shootings in Minnesota, the cops were entirely too jumpy, trigger happy.
I usually side with the police and I'm trying to withhold judgment on this one but it looks really bad so far.

Did you land on your Jump to Conclusions mat? How do you know it's without cause?
so what's your theory, she was secretly a drug addled maniac laying an ambush for them? The burden should be on the cops to establish cause, not on the dead woman and her relatives to establish that she wasn't doing anything wrong, which is the unfortunate tendency of some people (ie why was she outside anyway). If there's cause i'm very curious to hear what it possibly could be.

Body camera not turned on in the event of a officer shooting which is not clear cut should be automatic prison time.
That's fricking stupid. Cops have to be able to turn off cameras or else they won't be able to do illegal things without being recorded. I swear some of y'all don't even think before you post this shite.

I know that they're responding to a call, adrenaline pumping, with guns, and that they ALWAYS want civilians out of the way. How does someone not know to stay inside until they ask you to come out?
I always go out if I call them, the last thing I want is a cop coming to my door and shooting my dog because it is barking at him, and I am dead serious.

Can't we all just be grateful for the cops not raping anyone? I mean let's celebrate the fact that they didn't show up, instruct the man she was with to leave and then post two officers as look out while a third told her she was free to go after oral sex. We should be very happy that nobody used their authority to intimidate and blackmail for sex and then destroy evidence. And we should be even more thankful that these officers weren't investigated by their friends and let go due to lack of evidence. Every time that police don't rape a suspect, we all win. Let's all remember that.

quote:I wasn't. It's a lot like a drunk attractive coed walking across campus at 2 AM ... I in NO way blame her for being assaulted; however, you'd have to be pretty dense to not realize that she significantly increased her odds of being attacked - would you not warn your daughter/sister to avoid doing that?
Saying you aren't victim blaming doesn't mean you aren't.

That's a false dichotomy, just because this cop wasn't a super villain doesn't mean he was cut out to be a cop. Lots of people with good intentions (and some without) shouldn't be cops. And holding them to a high standard doesn't mean you don't support them.
Posted on 7/17/17 at 12:33 pm to SlapahoeTribe
Didn't mean to offend. Is "reckless, trigger-happy, inept cops" better?

2. Lock your dog in the bathroom all those times you call the cops and are waiting on them to show up at your house.

This doesnt mean much. Good intentions cant bring people back from the dead.

As am I. At this point all we know is a woman was shot and not much more.

Mohammed Noor has been an officer for two years and was the first Somalian-American to serve in his precinct.
