If your phone is not universal, you'll need a new one I think. Different sim cards.

President was on CNN and said that he signed something whereby the FCC would allow customers of the down carriers to use the networks of the carriers that are functional. I do not know the ins and outs of this process, but it sounds like that may be what is happening.
