Australian astronomers say they've found no technological signs of alien life in a study of more than 10 million star systems.
Perth-based researchers used the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) radio telescope in the Western Australian outback, in a project dubbed 'looking for ET'.
The MWA searches for powerful radio emissions at low frequencies, similar to FM radio frequencies on Earth that allow radio broadcasts.
These emissions from space, known as 'technosignatures', could possibly indicate the presence of an intelligent aliens with technological innovations similar to our own.
The team completed the 'deepest and broadest search' of a patch of sky known to include at least 10 million stars, in the southern constellation of Vela.
But the researchers concluded that, in this part of the universe, other civilisations are 'elusive, if they exist' at all.

I know 10,000,000 is a massive number, but there are literally billions of stars in the Milky Way alone.

What happens if they actually found something?

How does that explain Elon Musk?

Only 100 trillion+ left to study

What’s more frightening, the possibility of advanced alien life existing, or the possibility that we are the only life form in the entire universe?

So .00000001% of the galaxy? Seems reasonable to come to a conclusion based on such extensive exploration.
ETA: This is like casting into the ocean and determining that there are no fish anywhere because you didn't happen to hook one in the side while you were reeling in.

Really clever right there

So because planets might not have the same technology as us, they don't have life? This is absurd.
I hope Australian tax payers paid for this

So basically Aliens don’t use short wave radios like we do. Who would have thought? They’re out there communicating through dark energy matter.

Frightening is that they exists.
Depressing is that we are alone.
This reminds me of the shortest scary story written
The last man on earth is the last living thing, and is alone in his room when he hears a knock on the door

That’s because advanced life doesn’t want to be found.

So.... like 0.0000000% of 1% of the star systems?
I welcome our supreme alien overlords

Damn you 2020, if there was a year to see aliens this was it.

So that limits the search to only civilizations that have discovered radio and the broadcast has had enough time to travel to be detected on earth. I thinks it s great that SETI organizations exist but how does this conclude anything?

But we’re still supposed to believe it was all a coincidence that human life happened on our planet?

Or just doesn't exist.

They obviously haven't tried DMT

I don't understand why there is an expectation of "advanced" or "intelligent" life.
Think about how many species of bacteria, plants, insects, fish, etc. we have on earth. How many species on the planet build rocket ships? Just one.
Any life on another planet is 9,999,999 times more likely to be "unintelligent" like algae than an 'E.T. with a flying saucer'.
