My daughter is being recruited by Tech.

Curious about your thoughts about the area and school if you have any feedback.

Thank you

great little small town
not very pretty itself but the mountains are close
everything you need is there

dry county
dining options are not that great
gateway to the ozarks and highway 7
weed will be legal soon in OK which is a shot drive away

there are worse places to be

Small town college. 1 hour to Little Rock. Great fishing, hunting and floating nearby.
Arkansas River is south of town and I-40 is north side of town.

They have the only Taco John’s in Arkansas.

A serious lack of potato oles in this state.

The town itself is boring, but you can buy alcohol there. No really good restaurants. The people are pretty friendly and Little Rock is about an hour away. The school has a pretty good biological science department.
About 30-35 minutes away is Altus, they have a few wineries there and have a couple of festivals a year.
Lake Dardenelle is a few minutes away, but unless she'll have access to a boat then it doesn't matter.

That's about it.

Good town overall. Safe. Dry. Wet restaurants. Lotta walking trails and parks-city, corps, state parks. Lake Dardanelle for nice views. Can go to Conway if you wanna do something. No point in going to Little Rock.

I thought about going to tech

then I went to russellville and I decided it wasn't the place for me.

Town is okay

Is this the only school in Arkansas she'd be interested in?

She is open in her recruiting at the moment. This is just the latest one to come knocking and wanting to meet with her. She's currently in her second year of Junior College. So she will be coming in as a junior.

As far as my white liberal post I was mixing up Russelville with Rogers AR. Russelville is safe right now from white liberals. Arkansas is a beautiful state.

She'd probably have more fun at UCA or at The U of A, but then again, don't know what she's like. Post a pic so we can better assist you.

Ah so she's actually trying to do something with her life

Nevermind my suggestions, I was going to say go to Faytown or A-state

I guess it really just depends on what she's majoring in. UCA has a really good medical program and business school. Little Rock (UALR) has a really strong IT program.

Ouachita Baptist is really nice for teacher education / anything to do with Christian studies

Henderson is in the same city as Ouachita Baptist and has a nice business school

There are certainly worse places than Russellville.

If she is coming from a larger city then she will likely find it boring, but if she has lived in a small town, it may feel like an upgrade.

Hard to know without obligatory pics.
