This was posted yesterday and a dumbass idea.

Not sure why they think it’s safer for teens to not go to school. None of those kids are gonna stay home and hide. It’s the holidays, and they’re young. No in person school means more living it up at parties and in the community if school is virtual. Went to the mall this weekend and it looked like the 90’s. Packed with teens.

If EBR gets rid of the free daycare program they call public schools, they'll have a mutiny on their hands

No inside info except a kid in HS. It seems that the faculty and their families are dealing with exposure and testing positive at some schools. My best guess is we will hear of school by school closures this week and then next week when the kids are out they will announce that the last 2 weeks will be virtual and they will take a wait and see approach to opening back up after the holidays.

If they close after thanksgiving they’re not going back in January

No inside info re EBR, but hearing similar rumblings for Livingston. Got teachers pulling back in books that were loaned out to students, and a focus on getting things wrapped up early in this week. Would not be surprised to see a return to virtual after the holiday. If that happens (1) it would suck donkey balls and (2) it would likely mean students not returning to campus until 2021.

Have heard unofficially that this Friday‘s classes are likely to be either cancelled outright or at least unofficially due to quarantines for students/staff.

How impossibly stupid are these districts that cancel in advance?

Vermilion Parish is gearing up for it. Most of the parish isn’t prepared for virtual, so I guess elementary will be hybrid

No inside scoop on EBR schools but here in Lafourche we have two high schools and 1 elementary school that switched to virtual schooling due to each school having multiple COVID 19 clusters. They define a cluster as more than one student in a classroom testing positive and this happening in 3 or more classrooms during any time period. One high school had 8 students test positive last week with the cases being in different classrooms. Once they did the contact tracing over 300 students were put on quarantine. The other high school only had 4 students test positive but with contact tracing 150 students were quarantined. On advice from our local health department they transitioned to all virtual until after Thanksgiving. We are definitely seeing an uptick in cases since Halloween and it doesn’t look like it will get any better in the short run. I expect for the district to go all virtual in the next month or so but we will see what happens I guess. Our biggest problem seems to be the out of school parties and other events that occur in the community rather than students passing around the virus at school.

Musick, you're usually pretty reliable...JBE shutting it down until January is coming from some reliable sources?

What the hell do you do if both parents work and you have a 1st grader or something like that?
