I flew out of Atlantic at Hobby the other day and forgot some things on the plane they are holding for me. It is nothing critical that I have to get back and it is 45mins roughly from the house. Is there anything worth doing or seeing in that area that the wife and I could go do to make the trip worth it?

Maybe some good hobby shops in the area?

The Botanic Gardens are just on the other side if I-45 from Hobby. Might be fun. We went there for Christmas lights this past holiday. It was pretty nice.

I'd suggest the Hobby Lobby.

That's as good of a suggestion as OP will get without going to Webster/Clear Lake. Would definitely be worth the quick trip.

Unless Hispanic strip clubs are your thing. Plenty of those around Hobby.

You could probably find some action on Telephone Road.

quote:

Telephone Road is ten miles long
Fifty car lots and a hun-hundred honky-tonks
Jukebox blastin' and the beer bottles ring
And Jimmy banging on a pinball machine

Well come on, come on
Come on let's go
Well this ain't Louisiana
Your mama won't know
Come on, come on
Come on let's go
Here everybody's rockin'
Out on Telephone Road

I work on the other side of 45 from Hobby. The answer is no unless you like fishing and want to go to FTU or eat something like Perry’s or Delta Blues down 45 south.

About a 10 minute drive is Perry and Sons Market, get the pork chop special. Holy crap it’s the best chop you will ever eat

Wait until dark and go visit one of the Ice Houses in the area. Change your life.

Landing Strip club was always a local fave.

I worked in that area for a long time. No, not much to do. Some hole the wall Mexican joints. Central TX BBQ is good. The Cockpit is a decent dive bar.

South Houston City Cafe had good food but was weird because you could still smoke inside.

Hobby is only 15 minutes to midtown. Just go there.

You can get a dozen roses for like $10 bucks at the flower shop right off the freeway.

Also, that first gas station on the right has a taco truck.

That’s all I got.
