Anyone here with a scooter or moped?

My niece wants a scooter for her birthday. Not a kick type scooter, but the moped kind. She's 16 and has her driver's license. I've looked into it and know enough to not buy anything Chinese. I'm also not buying her a Vespa b/c $$$.
Looking at Genuine Buddy, Honda Zuma, Honda Metropolitan, Lance Cali Classic etc
Most of those cost about $2k. She'd be using around the area(max 7-8 miles) and then she said she'd take to college.
Anyone have experience with these?

You gonna put a milk crate on back for Nymeria?

16 year old who just got her license riding a two wheel moped that tops out at 40mph in the city. Gonna be a no for me dog.
But if you’re still going to do it, I highly recommend a Honda ruckus.

Some dude here posted a funny story about how when he drove a scooter, people on motorcycles would see him and start to do the wave/air high five thing, but then they would realize he was on a scooter and awkwardly pull their hand back.

Honda Metropolitan will be the cheapest reliable ride. I like the Yamaha Zuma 50s, the 2 stroke variety but for a chick who may forget to add oil....the newer ones are 4 stroke. Same for honda Ruckus...the little ruckus is a small 4 stroke but slow AF.

Traded the van for it straight up. Can get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog.

I just sold my 2015 ruckus. Great little bike. Rugged enough for trails and I could get her up to about 45 mph on long stretches. Battery was a little quirky if not used regularly, but it ran like a Honda does.
If you can convince her to get a moped that looks more like a dirt bike, then that is the way to go.

I think a Honda trail 125 would be real versatile. But since these just came out, it may be hard to find one.

I like the Ruckus, but she's a girl and wants more of an Italian style scooter.
I'm actually looking at 125cc so they can top out at about 55-60 I think. She lives in Bay St Louis, so I'm not too worried about traffic. She says she'll take to college with her as well.

If you get the yamaha bws, it is fairly easy to upgrade to go faster. There is a guy who sells a lot of parts for them. Hes a really reliable person and a lot of people who own that brand buy from him. Here is a Fb group if u want more info about that model of scooter.

Check into the company SWAGTRON
A few neighbors in my division had some "swagcycles" and I was super jealous when we'd have game nights at one couple's house around the block..
