Top of the day, a mighty fine hat sir.
Complete the set with a monocle and a pocket watch.

I wear a palm leaf cowboy type hat in the pool or at the river/lake. What a huge difference it makes compared to a regular old ball cap.

I was never a fan of fedora hats but I have to admit there's only a few that could wear it real good all the time. One dude is the one below:

I’ve got a tam o’shanter I wear on holiday in other countries

I have a brown Stetson fedora, the Indiana Jones model. It is very nice in the winter. In the summer not so much.

Let’s face it:
There’s nothing worse than anachronistic hat guy
Ugh

Didn't expect there to be so much opposition to hats but hey, to each his own.
My wife likes hats too and we often are both wearing them. For Christmas one year I got her a custom-made bolero hat that's gorgeous.

I do, wearing hats. Even if it's a baseball cap or a flat cap.
Tough audience here, when I've posed this question at other sites the reaction has been universally positive.
There's actually a hat forum that I'm a member of.
Some of the really first-class custom Western hat makers get $5,000 or more for a hat and have waiting lists of up to two years from customers.

LOL.
For the record, the conventional wisdom for why hats fell out of favor is it's a PITA to wear them in cars ... true ... and because people in modern times are more focused on casual comfort than style. RE>the latter, call me a fancy pants if you want to but I don't even go to Walmart looking super casual or like a bum, I've been that way since I was a toddler, just how I am.

At some point we bought into the lie that pride in appearance is "unmanly" or "gay". Some of it was organic, like the hippies, but men were still making an effort (even if misguided ie leisure suits) until the 90's or so. I wonder if the flood of cheap Asian textiles and the resulting advertising dollars had anything to do with it?

Rope hats are gay.

Flat caps are cool.
