Found out I have a torn medial meniscus and some cartilage damage, so heading back to the well for a second time on the same knee, though the first time was almost thirty years ago.

What’s the after party look like these days? Crutches for how long? Length of rehab?

Thanks in advance for all the medical advice to follow!

Getting your knee scoped after the age of 30 is a try hard move.

Not necessarily. At some point the rest of your lower body is going to wear itself out overcompensating for the torn meniscus.

I had scope to clear up junk under patella.
Was walking around apartment that evening.
Treadmill very slow next day.
Just took a little while to get fluid out of knee.
Wasn't bad at all.
Move quickly afterwards.
Get walking on treadmill, elliptical etc.

Subtle "look at me, I do exercise" brag.

I was sitting at the doctor’s office yesterday and noticed a couple of people checking it out. Made me uncomfortable tbh.

Going for X-ray next week and if no structure damage then an MRI to look for ligament damage.

Had it done summer before last.

Procedure was Friday around noon, up and about on crutches Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

Walked a little without crutches Sunday PM, and a lot on Monday. I think I started PT on Tuesday or Wednesday but really can't remember. I think I did rehab for 3 or 4 weeks but 1 or 2 would have been enough.

The doc sent me home with some pain pills and I took 1 or 2 on Friday evening and then took maybe 1 on Saturday. Didn't really need them because there never was a lot of pan but took them anyway just in case. :)

I had both done last summer, not at the same time but a month apart. No crutches, not even any stitches although they both bled a little for a day or so. Sore as hell for the first week done 4 rounds of therapy for each. One year later and they feel great.

Good luck

Some truth here. I went 20+ years with knee pain. Got the surgery at 53 years of age, and it was ok. After a few months, that pain is 100% gone. I did develop a slightly off gait due to the right knee pain.

Took longer to get well than I thought, but once healed it's amazing.
