A relative is having trouble with addiction and heavy depression and he is looking into an Ibogaine treatment facility in Mexico. I've listened to podcasts etc about it (Rick Perry et al.) and there seems to be a lot of promise with it, but curious if anyone on here has gone through the treatment or knows someone who has been through it.
If so, did it work, which clinic was used? TIA

No but I read a bit about it.
quote:
Ibogaine is a psychoactive indole alkaloid derived from plants such as Tabernanthe iboga, characterized by hallucinogenic and oneirogenic effects. Traditionally used by African Pygmies, it has undergone controversial research for the treatment of substance use disorders.
Ibogaine exhibits complex pharmacology by interacting with multiple neurotransmitter systems, notably affecting opioid, serotonin, sigma, and NMDA receptors, while its metabolite noribogaine primarily acts as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor and kappa-opioid receptor agonist.

From my experience with a family member, the most important part is not just the initial treatment (ibogaine or any other method), but the way the clinic continues to provide support afterward. In the U.S., there are a few centers that focus on this, and here in Georgia there is Fairland Recovery Center, where they don’t limit themselves to the classic treatments for addiction, but also include serious programs for mental health issues. They place strong emphasis on group therapy, family involvement, and relearning healthy habits.
