Thinking about doing Daniel Pink’s class on sales and persuasion. Wondering if it would be more effective than reading books.

he's a master in separating money from baws by pointing out the obvious and acting like it's some great insight

i've been tempted to take Aaron Franklin's masterclass on smoking.
i've been tinkering with briskets, turkey, pork butts, and ribs for the better part of the year and have gotten it mostly down to where i'm never disappointed in my final results, but i'd love to shore up some of my inexperience.
for now i just watch a lot of youtube videos.

I signed up just for Aaron Franklin. It was great and I nailed my first brisket.

Get his books. They're worth the money.

excellent. recap here and send to me and i'll send a TD koozie
my last 3 have all been excellent and my family will tell me if i don't make it up to snuff, so i've held off on paying for further instruction.
i smoked one for my family after their first day of school last week and then made a baller smoked pimento mac and cheese recipe from pit boss and that was by far my best meal.

Sales persuasion
Pink aside...
If you authentically help your customer solve a problem or seize an opportunity, perhaps even for their customer, so called persuasion will take care of itself. You will thrive!
In 26-years of experience, the consistent and most basic stumbling block in Sales, and not coincidentally the driver of a need to learn "persuasion", is authentic interest in and perspective of self vs. customer perspective.
If you are leading with you, get you some persuasion training. You are going to need it.
If you are leading for others, save your D. Pink money.

The Thomas Keller ones and the sleep one are excellent

There's actually some cool ones like the cocktail one.
Chefs Ramsey and Keller very good.
Dog training one was excellent.
Lots of woke and diversity type Masters though.

I’m no means an expert, but I’ve made a great living off of sales. I’ve also taken beau coup independent sales courses, college sales courses, and read plenty of books. IMO, sales is an art that can’t truly be taught. You can become great at different aspects of the sales model, but becoming a great sales person is learned through the actual process of selling and in no way adheres to any model.

Best sales advice I ever got was to shut the frick up and listen to the customer. I used to interrupt the customer to talk about my product and wasn't bothering to find out if they needed that product or not. Find out their problem and then solve it.

I took the James Patterson one on writing. It was great for me to get his take on things since he's such a successful and prolific writer.
I guess it just depends on the subject matter and what you want to learn of it.
