I used to not be a fan, but if you give it a chance and have an open mind about you'll probably become interested. I'm really pumped for the World Cup, it's going to be a great month.

I never played but it appears to be one of those sports that is not boring if you play it and not just watch it.

Because it's never "I don't like soccer." It's always "soccer is gay", etc. That's why they get defensive.

And once you have kids, it is more likely you'll get it. Give me a youth soccer game over a youth baseball game ANY day.

My son plays both and I never appreciated soccer until I watched him play. He never comes home from a baseball game or practice and passes out. Happens all of the time from soccer games and practice.

Kids should be kept off of this site. You should have to sign in with a credit card.

I've been to tons of LSU games and Saints games. I also just took my family to the San Siro in February for AC Milan v. Juventus. The only place I was actually scared was at the San Siro. It was awesome.

Eta: I like baseball, when somebody tells me they don't like it I don't insult them. I just shrug it off and tell them it's not for everybody.

But most soccer haters, especially on this site, feel the need to insult anyone who thinks that soccer is a good sport. See, for example, the moron on the MSB a couple days ago who was calling anyone who watched soccer un-American. Of course we're going to be defensive.

other countries wouldn't stand a chance if lebron and adrian peterson were in our starting lineup.

I have just enough interest in soccer to watch a few games every four years.

I never developed an interest in the sport until I started working international. I'll be watching this WC outside the US and with a melting pot of colleagues. Watching the games in this environment drastically changed my perception of the game.

For me, it is by far the #1 sporting event in the world. The US is gaining traction but we still lag behind in the sport. I hope we catch up during my lifetime.

So guys that have never played soccer at a high level would just roll out and beat the world's best teams and players who have pretty much played soccer entire lives?

Interesting..

I went to a qualifying match between Ghana and Nigeria in 2002. It was the most intense sporting event I've ever experienced.

Not true soccer is a game of skill. It's like saying Lebron and Peterson would be great MLB players.

Ignore it, it's soccer board people fricking with the thread. They have a thread about this thread, they are now talking about how attractive soccer players are now in it.

i take it you don't watch the NBA, where wade just got fined 5k for flopping, or football, where teams regularly slow down fast offenses by collapsing w/ "injuries"?
