So you want one of the most fundamental rules in soccer changed but have literally no idea how to do it?

lol

Have to love the guys saying soccer is boring yet calling someone gay for not liking baseball.

Honestly, I used to be one of those guys. If you don't understand what is going on in soccer, then it is really just kickball.

And once you have kids, it is more likely you'll get it. Give me a youth soccer game over a youth baseball game ANY day.

I bet there are a lot of things you would like to change in this world that you have literally no idea how to even begin to do it as well.

I just agree with others it would be nice to see some change there, but I am not going to start trying to draft a revision to the rules that will never even be used in a game in the backyard just for you to mock me some more. Because lets face it, you don't want me to offer a suggestion for analysis, you just want another reason to mock me on an internet forum.

I know I can't either, I am not a director of any league or much less a coach of a kids team. I am just an guy in his 30s that played up until college and now just watches the game on TV.

Which is why I literally don't even know where to begin with it.

Why does someone have to like every rule? I don't agree with every rule in Hockey/Football/Baseball/Lacrosse/etc, but I am not about to begin to rewrite all of them as well.

It has changed. This is the most open offside rule in the history of the sport. It has made the game much more open and exciting. It has phased out certain types of players and phased in a new style of play.

No one is saying that. But it's not unreasonable for the response to be "well how should they change it?".

Well if you don't like the rule, there must be something you don't like about it. Start there.

You don't have to like it. Just know that your dislike of it is born out of ignorance regarding how it effects the way the game is played.

Well he admitted he doesn't know how he would "fix it". He all but admitted he doesn't even really understand the law or how it effects the game. He still wants to fix it though.

I didn't think that was unreasonable and I honestly gave you the best answer I could, which is no answer at all. I don't have a way to solve it. Maybe there is no better option for the game. As crazy said, they changed it for the better and it may be the best option for the game. I am definitely not knowledgable enough in the sport to even attempt a suitable replacement for it. It's just one place that irritated me when playing several sports that had other options.

My dislike comes from the way it is played, which is why I want to see some change.

Soccer sucks? I guess you prefer sports with 60% commercials and 30% replays.

Yea. And you don't know how changing it would effect the game either. Mostly because, well, you don't even have the slightest clue how you would change it.

I know, I can see how going with lacrosse rules probably could lead to the booting free for all you had said. Giving the defenders stilts or something really wouldn't balance it out like the long sticks in lacrosse.

Maybe someone more knowledgable will figure it out one day.

I don't really care for any non contact sport. Combat sports are my favorite. I also would rather participate in sport, even though I am an old man, instead of watch it. I rarely watch sports on television anymore.

I just find them defensive

Eta: I like baseball, when somebody tells me they don't like it I don't insult them. I just shrug it off and tell them it's not for everybody.
