It's too much of a punishment on the attack for the defense being lazy or purposely slowing the game.

You've clearly never played the game. Pulling an offside trap and also not giving the forwards space to run into is REALLY fricking hard. You can't just "be lazy" and keep them onside.

Also, are you really blaming defenses for doing their job? Yea, man, they should just let the offense score and stop trying. It'd be a lot more exciting!

You're still not understanding, that without offside, the defense would sure as shite not leave their 18 yard box. They'd have ZERO reason to. You just don't understand the game is all.

I grew up playing baseball and basketball. Only started getting interested in soccer in my early 20s.

Id rather watch a soccer match over an MLB or NBA game any freakin day.

It's actually not restrictive. The consequence of doing away with offside would be a supremely defensive game, as teams wouldn't want to leave their goalmouth. The offside rule was more restrictive when it required that their be three players between the attacking player and the goal instead of two, and the rule as it stands now has revolutionized the game, making it more open while disincentivizing teams desire to bunker down and defend.

crazy, the guy can't figure out that it's "could have" instead of "could of". There's no chance he'll understand your post.

I am not calling for the complete removal of offsides, I just want it reworked some. There needs to be a little more give to it.

You didn't just make a grammar mistake, you thought someone was agreeing with you when they pointed out that you made a mistake. That's grade-a stupid, there.

What is your suggestion for reworking the rule?

Sure is, please alert the grammar authorities and make sure I go to prison for that serious frick up. I mean it just can't go unpunished. You really need to make sure I pay for it. It's just so fricking terrible to let this one go...

So you pick two plays that highlight rare high points and use that as your evidence?

watch high school , college, or even middle school soccer. It might be more fun and different style of play first.

I don't have an idea. It would be nice to see a little change in the area though, but I am not sure where to go to not give the attack too much. Be interesting to see if they could tweak it at a lower level and get some different better play that might translate into a better game.
