Any of y’all ever owned a VW Tiguan? Or a VW in general?

If so, thoughts?

Yes, I bought one for my daughter 5 or 6 years ago and surprisingly we had nothing but trouble with it. It would continue to overheat as it kept leaking coolant. We brought it in to Volkswagen in Baton Rouge multiple times to get fixed and ultimately decided to trade it in and let someone else deal with that issue.

We just bought a new Atlas and love it. Has the 3rd row which goes down easy, little turbo engine has quite a bit of pick up. Rides great, warranty is 72k miles so we'll be good for a while. Would recommend.

Had 2 VWs over my lifetime and will never own another one.

My 2008 Rabbit has 243,000 miles on it and all I've done for it, besides regular maintenance, is change the belts at around 180K miles.

John Clay Wolfe (givemethevin.com) said they are junk and break all of the time. Have heard him mention this a few times.

Don't do it. My daughter has a 2006 Touareg. It cost more to replace the starter than the car was worth. Had to drop this engine to install. Move on.

My dad bought and maintained (which is quite the ordeal) a 2011 Tiguan ("Tiggy," as we called it) for my sister.
Giant POS. 2 bad evap valves within a year span, coolant leaking into oil, prematurely failed water pump, leaky sunroof, and electrical gremlins galore.
Run far far away and get a Honda.

I think average mechanics don’t want to work on Volvo’s /Volkswagen type vehicles. Special tools and shite like that. Special computer diagnostic software. So expensive to fix as well

They run great and have an incredibly smooth ride. The maintenance is expensive, as it is on all German cars, but we haven't had any major issues.

You should have done some research first if you were at all surprised by this.

I had a '72 VW Beetle when I was at LSU. GOAT all-terrain vehicle.

I've owned three Jetta's. The first one I had for 10 years and put over 200k miles on it. Got rid of it when the AC went out. I have never had any major issues with any of them other than replacing air conditioners. I had to replace the ac in my current jetta a couple of years ago. They run great. Now, when something does go wrong finding a repair shop is difficult. Lots of places won't work on VW but I've always found a place.
