I was curious about why so many people are starting to believe this so I starting going down the YouTube rabbit hole and the one thing the experts on the documentaries kept saying is:

“People make fun of flat earthers but they don’t really know what we mean we say “flat earth”. We are not saying it’s shaped like a pancake or flat”

But yet, they never get around to what they are actually saying.

So…now I have a question, if flat earthers are saying the earth is flat but not shaped in a flat way…what are they saying?

I assume only a flat-earther could educate me here so I’ll wait and see if there are any on the OT to set me straight.

It’s flat with some hills and mountains. Common sense man.

Have you ever seen a hill? Was that hill flat or was it....well....hilly?

How are seasons explained?

What’s the overall model look like? Just a bumpy stage with lights swirling above us and randomly disappearing? I’m not getting the picture.

ETA: the irony of getting downvoted by flat earthers for asking questions is not lost on me

Based on that awesome doc on NF, that's almost exactly what they believe though. That the earth is flat as opposed to round. So basically the land/water masses are all flat on the same plane, and then the "atmosphere" is above it. So I guess maybe almost like a snowglobe.

I’m all aboard the “we are being lied to” train on most things

I guess I’m wondering if I missed the stop to get on this train - but I can’t seem to get simple answers to simple questions (like what’s the overall model look like)

uh…yes

But are they flat to? And where are they moving to/from? I assume there is an educated answer to this.

I’ve been in a big psychology reading mode since Covid.

One general topic that keeps coming up is tribalism and people wanting to feel part of a group and going against the grain.

That’s why you’ve seen QAnon and flat Earthers become popular recently. Go watch the QAnon documentary on Netflix. These guys aren’t exactly the brightest bulbs in the box
