When did you see me say it was just luck?
Now there's no doubt that luck is a factor. Just like intelligence, effort, support, money, and a ton of other things are factors.
Saying that all you need is effort to be successful is obtuse.

Tall people make more money than short people. Every inch of height equals over $500 per year in earnings. #TallPrivledge
Who wants to start a tall man protest group?

White privlege...the new theme of the lazy to explain how they just cant compete, cant match the drive and work ethic of your average cracker.

I guess that I kind of agree.
But I refuse to rest my laurels on the concept of predetermined destiny. To me, that's bullshite. I grew up in a family that was well off, but it was a result of being a latchkey kid where both my parents worked their arse off. And both of my parents grew up poor in shitty families. And if I just sat back and didn't work, it's not like I would be set just because I had a lot of things as a child. I would be poor too. Hell, me and my wife work our arse off and sometimes I look at our situation vs the non working man and ask myself, "why bother?" Because I'm not well off, at all. If I lost my job, we would be in a poor situation.
Now, as far as all the other stuff:
You don't want to be judged in this world? Don't dress the part. Don't want the cops called on you? Don't do things like walk around a neighborhood all creepy and suspicious looking when other people aren't doing that. There are real easy solutions to a lot of your examples.

The problem begins and ends in the home. Who and where are the parents? And I'm talking about biological parents, not passed down to grandparents and aunts/uncles. Has really nothing to do with race or socioeconomic status. If that was the case, then both my parents and then ultimately me should be bums. Because like I said, they grew up poor.

if you would take the time to open up to some you'd probably be very surprised that many have strong conservative views, myself included.

Again, the success of someone is ultimately determined by multiple factors, but sure, keep trying to narrow it down to one thing.

No parenting is pretty fricking huge. I don't know what factors you're throwing in, but parental guidance to raise and steer a child right is about 80% of it, I would say.
Posted on 7/25/15 at 10:26 am to RealityTiger
That would make education less than 20% of the picture. You sure about that?
Posted on 7/25/15 at 10:30 am to PKTiger
Without parenting, who is going to drive the kids to go to school when they don't want to? Who is going to help out on homework and/or tutoring?
That's not a privilege. That's a responsibility of a parent.

Wbere did he make excuses ? A lot of what he said is truth. Research supports it.
Check out the white resume vs black resume study for just one glaring example. Resumes virtually the same except one group had traditional white names ( Caleb, Josh, Madeline, etc) and the other, traditional black names such as Jamal, Lakeisha, etc. You wanna guess which group got significantly more call backs? Explain that one away.

I'm guessing it's also the parents' choice to send their kids to underfunded, overcrowded schools, right? If only they worked harder, they could send their kids to better schools.

If you name your kid LaShaniqua, you set them up for ghetto failure and are a horrible parent.

i work with black dudes who grew up in the ghetto and went to those overcrowded and underfunded schools you're talking about. They make more money than me and are successful. They also had parents that gave a care.

Too many people name their kids something they find cute and they don't think of their child's future.
Blame the parents.
By the way, that is also becoming a white issue as well.
Stop naming your children cutesy names.

Property values don't go down when more than 10 percent of our neighborhood is saturated with people of our race.
how is that the fault of white privilege? ...

.
What good parent would teach their child be racist based on names, not to mention skin color?
BTW, everything in the letter is also known to happen.
