The not so secret construction of an Amazon facility in Shreveport is expected to be formally announced Friday.
A source tells KTBS state and local economic development officials are scheduled to hold a joint news conference to make the announcement.
Gov. John Bel Edwards' office has confirmed he'll be in Shreveport Friday but no details were provided about the visit. His spokeswoman said an advisory will be released Thursday.

KTBS for several months has been following a paper trail of public documents that pointed all fingers to Amazon's plans to build a fulfillment center locally. That's even though the e-commerce giant's name so far is not on any of the documents.
Contractors began moving dirt on the 135-acre site on Corporate Drive last week.
Property owner Mansel O. Holmes in early April sold the acreage, known as the Hunter Industrial Center, to a Delaware company, which registered with the state of Louisiana in February.
Days later, the city of Shreveport issued a permit to Minnesota-based Ryan Companies to build a foundation for an almost 3.4 million square-foot, five-story distribution center. Ryan Companies and its dirt work contractor, Frattalone, also from Minnesota, have partnered in construction of other Amazon properties.

Hey dumbasses. There will be one of these in every city. We act like they are doing us a favor. It's incredible.

They do employ a lot of people.
They got us jerbs.
Before Amazon we didn't have a way to get Chinese stuff to our homes. Nobody ever was hired to work at stores or delivery companies in Baton Rouge until Jeff Bezos.

False
There will be a last mile Amazon DC in every decently sized city. Not all cities will get a massive fulfillment center like this though.
Amazon will likely service Monroe, Texarkana, and Shreveport/Bossier area DC’s through this giant Shreveport fulfillment center. Much like the giant Baton Rouge Cortana Fulfillment center will handle south Louisiana.

Can you imagine how many security guards, snipers, riot teams, swat teams they are going to have to hire?

Is it that bad of a neighborhood?
It’s not retail. Loss prevention isn’t going to be that complicated.

When I said "city" I meant cities, not every town that is legally a city.
Like, if you are a metro area with 400,000 people are more then you are going to get a last mile facility pretty much no matter what.
If you are a mid sized city with no other mid sized cities within an hour and a half away then you're getting a big arse distribution center as well.
There's multiple types of facilities but that's the general idea. Amazon is basically creating a mesh of their own warehousing and logistics infrastructure. Walmart could technically do this as well.
We are about witness a massive takedown of FedEx and UPS. Many of these Amazon jerbs will be automated out of existence within 15 years.

Just wait until this happens...Amazon builds a distribution center inside of another distribution center.
The Babylon Bee Boys can have that joke for free.
Unfortunately someone beat them to the punch on Dollar General.
