Either reporting on these events were down during the last few years, or these things have absolutely skyrocketed in number this year

Gotta report on them while the Dems have power to push through gun “control” measures

suspect is black male wearing hoodie and ball cap who fled on foot

ETA: police now say it looks like a domestic situation so not a random shooting

Media expanded their definition of “mass shooting” so they can push the gun violence epidemic narrative.

And...that’s the last we’ll hear about this “mass shooting event”.

Little bit of both maybe but most “mass shootings” as they’re defined don’t garner big headlines. Maybe this year, they are

It's all about reporting. Basically every moron who fires a gun makes the news these days and then someone rushes to the OT to post about it

Nothing has actually changed

There does seem to be an uptick this year. There were 45 mass shootings in March of this year. No final count for April.

But these aren’t exactly rare. There were 29 mass shootings in April 2017, 26 in April 2018, and 25 in April 2020. (Couldn’t find a total for April 2019.)

Active shooter and mass shooting are the new tag line to get hits.

Plain jane "shooting" just doesn't garner enough social media attention.

Exactly. I mean all shootings are sad, but until facts come out that this was a random shooting vs a disagreement/drug deal/planned murder its all just sensationalized.

this same shooting wouldn’t be reported this way if this same story happened in south Chicago or east St. Louis

Democrats missed their chance at gun control with Obama. They’re making sure they don’t miss this time around. Gotta use media to incite panic for publicly supported gun control.

They stopped reporting. In 2018 there were 323 mass shootings. They are now reporting on shootings that involve people who get into arguments, etc.

Guess it depends on what the media is defining as "mass shooting" or what have you. Seems like they use the same buzzwords in every news reporting and they all get binned together as a result.

Looks like the number of mass shootings has gone up since 1982 (presumably when they started recording them or came up with the term/criteria), but how much of that is just more reporting compared to in the past, you know?

Damn. That much? Are you sure that's all based on the same criteria for what a mass shooting is?

Now that they can’t scare people with covid, they’re back to the gun control agenda. Predictable.
