We have posters that live in many cities. Does this happen in your city? Can a bird knock out power to 10K people?

An animal knocked out power for about 10,000 Entergy customers in New Orleans Wednesday morning, the utility company said.
The problem appears to be caused by a bird at the Derbigny substation, according to New Orleans City Council President Helena Moreno. She didn't say what kind of bird.
As of 10:30 a.m., customers were without power across a large swath of the city, including parts of downtown, the Central Business District, Treme, Mid-City and Central City.
The outage includes the area around the Caesars Superdome.
Power is expected to be restored by noon in some places and by 3 p.m. elsewhere, according to estimates on Entergy's online map.

Their infrastructure must be in tiptop shape for that to happen

Probably. You could just catapult some fried chickens on the wires.

Hahahaha what a shitshow. Entergy lines can’t withstand a bird, much less a hurricane. The Entergy execs should be in prison.

We need the windmills to hurry up and kill the birds so we can charge our cars without interruption.

The coulter rule. Probably a cormorant
Eta
Something similar happened at a major refinery not too long ago. A raccoon or a squirrel got into a major transformer and shorted the entire substation and shut the refinery down.

The Entergy apologists will be along soon to tell us this is all the government's fault and/or that this happens everywhere.

Probably an a-hole mocking bird.

Remember the Superbowl when power just got knocked out in the dome on live TV?
Entergy/New Orleans has some questionable infrastructure.

Probably a 8 piece mixed ready to go at that substation...

Krewe d’Etat had a great float mocking Entergy saying “We Power Nothing”. Wish I had a pic because it would be a great OT meme.

My office’s internet went out about an hour and a half ago. It still hasn’t been restored.

Entergy officials said an issue with a substation in Beaumont is delaying the restoration.
A substation controls the voltage that goes into a transformer, which powers homes and businesses in certain areas.
According to outage information from Entergy.com, an animal caused an electrical short and damaged some equipment. The estimated restoration time shown on the website is 4 a.m.
Beaumont has Entergy too? Interesting...

Most of the Entergy posters are in operations side, so they are probably somewhat disconnected from the multitude of issues that pisses off consumers about Entergy.
